Leatherman Crunch Unboxing

Most men love multitools.  This is a fact.  Simple.  Need a present idea for a guy?  Buy him a multitool, he will like it!

The same goes for motorcyclists, multitools rule.  There are probably two big players currently on the market,

  1.  Leatherman
  2. Gerber.

Personally I have both, I carry a Leatherman every where I go in work, and I have a Gerber which I carry in the car.  I have another Leatherman which I keep in my tool box in the garage and is probably the most used thing in there!  This feature covers the latest Leatherman I have acquired which is a Leatherman Crunch.

Anyone familiar with the Leatherman Range will be familiar with the almost standard set of pliers that pop out when the tool is unfolded.  This is where the Crunch differs, instead of pliars you get a set of vice grips.  There is also a screwdriver slot in the base, which takes any standard bit, or buy the Leatherman set if you desire.

I carry this tool with me on the bike, and I purposefully bought it for this reason, as I am off the opinion that whilst on the road Vice Grips will be far more useful than pliers, of course the grips can be used as a pliers as well, obviously you loose the needle nose feature.

Quality is top class, which is backed up by their Industry busting 25 year warranty.  I need say no more other than if like me you are a Leatherman fan, consider this tool as a good way to expand your capabilities away from the needle nose pliers.

#WAWIn1Week : Wild Atlantic Way In 1 Week : Day 3– Ballybunion to Clifden.

WAWIn1Week #WAWIn1Week Logo

Wednesday 29th July 2015 and we are at Day 3 of the #WAWIn1Week. Today’s route takes me from Ballybunion, Co. Kerry to Clifden, Co. Galway. My initial planning had worked today out to be somewhere around 205 miles, however again I underestimated a bit and it clocked up at closer to 270 miles.

WAWIn1Week – Ballybunion to Clifden – Day 3

One thing that makes this leg a little different is that you have the option of getting on a boat, this is a good idea as it will keep you away from Limerick, which is big, busy and is going to take up a good bit of time to pass through, either of the ferries will keep you motoring on and keep you on track staying on the coast.

It was another long day in the saddle, with few breaks, other than at the signature points, of which there were three today, namely :

  1.  Loop Head.
  2. Cliffs of Moher.
  3. Derrigimlagh.

At the moment there seems to be nothing you can do to get this update over the air other than keep trying.

In the meantime make sure your phone is backed up and all your important data saved by either preforming an iCloud Backup or a iTunes Backup, preferably both!

When you have got yourself backed up get yourself over to iTunes and try the software update from there, it is currently downloading without issue for me and numerous other users are reporting the same…

What time to download iOS9?

So what time should the world expect to be able to download iOS9?

Big question, and the truth is no one has that answer outside of Apple HQ.

However going in recent form here are my predictions :

USA :

Apple Inc. normally seeds iOS updates between 9 and 10 a.m. PST.

Eastern and Central time zones can then expect to get the updates from about 12 noon to about 1 p.m.

The Mountain time zone should be ok to start downloading the newest iOS update from about 11 a.m. up to 12 noon.
OUTSIDE USA :

London – 5 to 6 p.m.

Moscow – 8 to 9 p.m.

New Delhi – 9:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Shanghai – 12 midnight to 1 a.m.

Tokyo – 1 to 2 a.m.

Melbourne – 2 to 3 a.m.

Auckland – 4 to 5 a.m.

2015 Airwaves Portrush : NI International Air Show – Gallery

Royal Air Force Red Arrows - Portrush, Air Waves 2015 06/09/2015

2015 marks the second year of Air Waves, the rebranded Northern Ireland International Air Show.  2014 was an excellent year for this show with quality aircraft and outstanding displays so this year has a lot to live up to.  With in my opinion even more pressure on its shoulders because of a rather disappointing airshow earlier this year in Newcastle, Co. Down.

So Airwaves 2015 can you do it?

Yes you can.  Everything was in favour of the airshow this year most importantly the weather, over the weekend we experienced a little wind on the Saturday but it settled itself, Sunday started off a little wet and grey but as you will see from the gallery as the day went on, the weather also started to thankfully behave itself!

#WAWIn1Week : Wild Atlantic Way In 1 Week : Day 2– Kenmare to Ballybunion.

WAWIn1Week #WAWIn1Week Logo

Tuesday 28th July 2015 and it is Day 2 of the #WAWIn1Week.  Today’s route takes me from Kenmare, Co. Kerry to Ballybunion, Co. Kerry.  I had worked this out at about 230 miles when planning the route, however this is a long, long leg.  It’s probably closer to 280 – 300 miles and the with a pretty heavy volume of traffic, and some pretty small tight roads it leads to a long day in the saddle.  Today I was on the bike for a solid 12 hours with few stops.  Lunch for example was about 2.30pm at a garage on a picnic bench on the way to Dingle.  Tasty fresh sandwiches though, and friendly staff so it was grand, but time was the main issue I had today.

This section of the route took me to two signature points today :

  1.   Bray Head
  2.  Radharc Na Mblascaodai

Update : 28/10/2016 : The YouTube video of Day 1 is now available for your viewing pleasure…Enjoy!

So this is Day 1 proper of my trip along the Wild Atlantic Way.  The route takes me from Kinsale to Kenmare and is approximately  287 miles.

Wild Atlantic Way Kinsale To Kenmare
Wild Atlantic Way Kinsale To Kenmare

As you can see from the map above there are 3 Signature Points in this section of the route, namely :

  1.  Old Head of Kinsale
  2.  Mizen Head
  3.  Dursey Island.

The Signature Points along the WAW are what have been deemed as the ‘unmissable’ along the route and to be fair they are unmissable, when you are here make sure you check them out!  On my trip I managed to stop at each of these points my only warning in relation to them is – they are busy.  You can go for many many miles and not see another soul, however as you approach these Signature Points everything else increases, so the traffic can get quite heavy at some points, annoyingly heavy and be aware no one in front of you seems to care or be aware of what is going on behind them.

Old Head of Kinsale :

Old Head of Kinsale
Old Head of Kinsale

The Old Head of Kinsale is a remarkably dramatic piece of Ireland, protruding more than 3km into the Atlantic Ocean. Located on the Southwest Coast in County Cork, it is famous for its world-class, 18-hole golf course. Nine holes play along the tops of the cliffs, but all 18 holes boast stunning views of the ocean. Long before it became a golfer’s paradise, Old Head was known for its lighthouse, established in the 17th century by Robert Reading. This is also the nearest land point to the site where the RMS Lusitania sank in 1915, after being hit by a German torpedo. Nearly 1,200 people perished in the incident. While Kinsale is a beautiful place to admire on land, it’s best seen from the sea. You can take in views of this port town and learn more about its history with a trip aboard ‘The Spirit of Kinsale’, which brings passengers across the harbour, past Charles Fort and right to the edge of the harbour where you will get a great view of the Old Head of Kinsale before returning to port passing James Fort on the way.
