AirPress TomBow Pen Review

Airpress TomBow Pen
Airpress TomBow Pen

As a user of a Fisher Space Pen since about 1996 (and still having my original Fisher Space [Bullet] Pen) I was really intrigued when I read about the AirPress TomBow Pen.

Then as I read the reviews I noticed some pretty big claims were being made, the main one catching my interest being that the AirPress TomBow was a…

“Fisher Space Pen Killer.”

Personally I use a full size Fisher Space Pen every day.  I also carry a Titanium Bullet Space Pen in my wallet so I always have a pen with me, and it is always a Fisher Space Pen.

Now they are not cheap.  My full size pen was about £35 (they start at about £15 for a ‘Cap-o-matic’) and go into hundreds of pounds for Limited and Special Editions.  My Titanium Bullet Pen came in at about £40, but in saying that in over 20 years of daily use I have never had a Space Pen let me down.

So how would a £6.50 alternative compare – would it actually be a Space Pen Killer?

Quick Review : TI Ballpoint – Solid Titanium Pen + Stylus

I have reviewed a few pens on this site and pens are one of my frequent searches on crowd funding sites.  So when you couple a pen with Titanium, I am instantly interested.

This was however an eBay find, but I believe it started its life on Kickstarter as a Titanium pen that accepts 35 refills without any modification.  A plug and play pen : https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/klinkokids/ti-ballpoint-pen-stylus-refill-friendly-titanium-p

It was well funded back in 2014 – looking $10,000 and ending up with over $38,500.

If you got in early enough you could have picked up the early bird at $59.  They currently sell for about $75 on their website.

I picked mine up for an absolute bargain price of £15 – brand new and unused on eBay!  Result!

MontBlanc StarWalker Urban Speed Ballpoint Pen

MontBlanc StarWalker Urban Speed Ballpoint Pen

Continuing on with my pen theme from yesterday and the gallery of the very rare and much sought after Breitling Ballpoint pen I have another fine writing instrument to introduce you to.

The MontBlanc StarWalker Urban Speed :

MontBlanc Writing Instruments need no introduction, and yes they are expensive, but no it is not just a pen.  Everyone needs to write with a nice pen, everyone should have a premium pen and you know deep down you actually want one!

We all do it, walking past the shops in the airport or the jewellers on the High Street, you look in the window, and think, ‘yeah…yeah!’

This MontBlanc though breaks the mould a little in my opinion.  It has a much more mordern design and look than that of the classic Meisterstück,for example.

The finish as you should expect is impecable, and again as you would expect the writing experience is refined and perfect.

Try it some day and try it in a store, it is an experience.  The pen will be presented to you with a pad.  The sales person will most likely be wearing gloves as they handle the pen, the pad will be branded, high quality and heavily weighted paper and you will be free to write, sign, doodle…whatever.

And you will enjoy it, the buying experience will add to the overall enjoyment of owning the pen, a premium pen that the most common comment you are likely to hear as you use it, is probably something like, ‘Wow, it that a real one?’

Breitling Pen – Limited Edition / Rare

Breitling Limited Edition / Rare Ballpoint Pen

I am a fan of a nice pen, with it being mightier than the sword and such, it is always worth writing with a nice pen.

I was lucky enough to receive a Brietling Pen for Christmas 2015 and as much as I have tried I have been able to find out very little information about it.

What I do know is that it is rare and probably originated from a Breitling Authorised Dealer.  What I also know is that it is a quality writing instrument, well made, even more well finished and like all things Breitling, supremely cool!

The finish is a hard plastic, each of the letters moves, it feels tough and sturdy – however the important things with a pen are grip and writing quality.  The pen is comfortable, and the ink smooth, although the original refill is a little wet, meaning depending on how you hold the pen, or if you are left handed it may cause smudging.  This is easily sorted however as the pen takes a standard Parker Style refill.  IT’s a great pen.  For me though it is more of a collector’s piece.   With the box tucked safely away in storage and the pen in a quality leather sheath, I am happy to say I own one of these rare items, and frequently keep an eye out for another – just to have as a daily user!
