The Coach Banbridge :

In a press release on Wednesday 4th November 2020 Northern Ireland’s oldest nightclub announced that it was closing its doors, permanently.

Citing the Covid-19 pandemic and no foreseeable opening date for the nightclub industry the iconic Northern Irish Club announced that it was closing for good.

I’m far too old for the Coach now but in my younger days I spend many, many Wednesday and Saturday nights in that night club. I have already used the word ‘iconic’ and that is what it was, unfortunately now it will ‘legendary’ – the stuff of stories and legend.

Deep down I wish that some miracle happens and when the world gets itself back to normal so too does the Coach, not for me, but for the generations that now won’t get to experience it.

Thank you to everyone who works, runs, worked, ran and went to the coach especially those of us who were there in the decade of 1996 – 2006, we nailed it!

Banbridge has lost something very special.
