To be honest it takes as much time as you want to give it, for example with me sometimes (like at the minute) I find myself very strapped for time, and adding new content is not easily done, other times, I find I have a bit of time of my hands and get the chance to add more stuff, I am always on the look out for new things and have a folder on my Mac called ‘To Be Blogged’ that even when I am not posting, it is filling up.
Try WordPress to get you started, it is free and very easy to work, and finally, good luck!
