2023 Ulster Grand Prix Dates Announced

UPDATE : 25/04/2023 : The 2023 Ulster Grand Prix has been cancelled. Full details are available here : https://tbni.blog/2023/04/25/2023-ulster-grand-prix-cancelled/

The 2023 Ulster Grand Prix has been scheduled for 18th – 19th August 2023.

The event last ran in 2019 and following financial difficulties within the organising structure a winding up order was set by the Court.

2022 marked the centenary of the Ulster GP and although no racing took place on the iconic Dundrod course, a celebration day was held in August organised by the UGP Supporters Club.

Hope remained for the event in 2023 in the form of the Revival Racing Motorcycle Club, however earlier in the year they confirmed their withdrawal of bidding to run the event.

At the time the Dundrod Club had also applied to run the event, and it seems that that process has taken another step forward.

The Dundrod Club have now confirmed that the 2023 UGP will run on 18th – 19th August 2023.

2023 Post TT Races Cancelled

2023 Post TT Races Cancelled :

Post TT Races
Post TT Races

The 2023 Post TT Races have been cancelled due to a scheduling clash with the 2023 Isle of Man Senior TT.

Similar happened in 2022, however this was due to a contingency following adverse weather on the planned Senior Race day (Friday) :

The Post-TT Races will no longer be held after 31 years of the event.

The Southern 100 Club has confirmed the decision following the announcement of the schedule for next year’s TT on the Mountain Course.

Traditionally, the Post-TT Races have been held on the final Saturday of the TT fortnight.

However this would clash, in 2023, with the new TT programme with next year’s Senior race scheduled for Saturday, 10 June.

S100 officials says the decision is largely down to lack of available medical personnel and marshals after the TT festival.

Meanwhile the Pre-TT Classic Road Races will go ahead next year but on a revised timetable.

It will now run for three days straight on the Billown Course from Friday, 26 May through to Sunday, 28 May.

The Friday session will run from 6pm to 9.35pm; the Saturday session from 1pm to 4.30pm and between 6pm and 9pm; and the Sunday slot from 1pm until no later than 6pm.

The Southern 100 Road Races are due to be held as planned from 10-13 July next year.

No 2023 Ulster Grand Prix? – Press Release

2023 Ulster Grand Prix Not Set to Make a Revival?

PRESS RELEASE – REVIVAL RACING MCC LTD – ULSTER GRAND PRIX 2023

27th October 2022

As a Motorcycle event promotor, we have been assessing the feasibility of reviving the UGP in 2023. Unfortunately, due to the shortness of available time to develop the plan with all vested parties such as the MCUI (UC), sponsors, local and central government, we cannot ascertain how much funding is available to run a successful event, therefore the risk in running the UGP is simply far too great for us to consider.  As this situation is unlikely to change in time to allow us to progress for 2023, we have therefore reluctantly withdrawn our UGP date application with the MCUI (UC).

Our Revival Racing MCC will continue to focus on our successful Classic Bike Festival Ireland, making further announcements in the New Year. Additionally, we will continue to be ready to promote the UGP if the situation in the future makes this viable. We would like to extend our thanks all those who have supported us, our club members, sponsors, and friends with special thanks to Tourism NI and Lisburn & Castlereagh Council for indicating their support had we been promoting the UGP in 2023.

Phillip McCallen – Robin Titterington

Directors – Revival Racing MCC Ltd.

Ends.

PRESS RELEASE – REVIVAL RACING MCC LTD – ULSTER GRAND PRIX 2023

The Dundrod Club have applied to run the 2023 Ulster GP meeting at the Dundrod circuit with provisional dates of 12th – 19th August 2023. That looks like the last chance (for 2023 anyway) for a Ulster Grand Prix.

MSVR Statement : Chrissy Rouse

BSB have issued a statement regarding the death of Chrissy Rouse.

I would like to pass on my thoughts and prayers also to Chrissy’s family, friends and team. Rest in Peace.

Chrissy Rouse
Chrissy Rouse

Following an accident during Bennetts British Superbike Championship race three at Donington Park (on Sunday 2 October 2022), competitor Chrissy Rouse crashed heavily on the opening lap of the race and was unavoidably struck by an immediately following rider. He sustained a significant head injury.

The race was stopped and he was treated immediately trackside by the BSB Medical Team before being transferred to the circuit medical centre.

He was stabilised and put in a medically induced coma at the medical centre before being transferred to Queens Medical Centre/University Hospital, Nottingham for further assessment and treatment. He underwent an emergency neurosurgical procedure shortly after admission.

It is with great regret that we have to announce that Chrissy Rouse aged 26, from Newcastle upon Tyne, has succumbed to his injuries, and passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family in hospital earlier this afternoon.

On behalf of Chrissy’s family they wish to convey their deep appreciation for the support and well wishes that they have received in recent days. As well they wish to thank all the attending marshals and medical services who provided such skill and care attending to Chrissy. The family also ask for privacy at this difficult time as they attempt to deal with their devastating loss.

MSVR is now working with the Coroner, Police and the Motorcycle Circuit Racing Control Board in order to investigate the full circumstances of this tragic accident.

Our deepest condolences are extended to Chrissy’s family, friends and team members.

Issued at 18:30 on Thursday 6 October 2022
