Casio G-SHOCK has crafted up a strong relationship with New Era Cap over the years, bringing us an assorted set of collaborations every time the two lifestyle brands link up. The latest treat they have in store for us is a limited edition set of DW5600 watches, and the new model is even inspired by New Era’s signature cap, the 59FIFTY® Fitted.

Press Release :

The G-Shock Press Release sums things up quite nicely :

DOVER, NJ, July 23, 2018 – Casio G-SHOCK has once again teamed up with renowned international sports and lifestyle brand, New Era Cap Co. Inc., unveiling an all-new, limited edition DW5600 men’s timepiece. The new model, which is inspired by New Era’s signature cap – the 59FIFTY® Fitted, boasts an understated yet impactful color scheme in classic shades of black and gold.

An updated take on their previous collaborations, the DW5600NE-1 features a gold clasp, alongside gold accents on the face. The base model is the square DW5600, whose shape and dark coloring recalls the look of the original G-SHOCK. The watch also displays the New Era logo on the face and back of the watch. To commemorate this significant collaboration, the watch’s collectable packaging has been designed in the form of a New Era cap, featuring G-SHOCK’s 35th anniversary logo, which takes place throughout 2018.

“We’re thrilled to be continuing our partnership with New Era,” said David Johnson, Vice President of Casio’s Timepiece Division. “After seeing the success of our previous collaborations, we’re excited to launch the latest model with a brand whose legacy is in line with G-SHOCK’s.”New Era, a legendary sports brand with a heritage of over 90 years, is best known as the official cap of the NFL and MLB. Combined with G-SHOCK’s absolute toughness, the two’s continued collaboration is a natural fit. To view a video of the collaboration model, visit

The new timepiece comes equipped with standard G-SHOCK features including:

  • 200M water resistance and shock resistance
  • Shock resistance
  • EL Backlight
  • Flash Alert
  • 1/100th Second Stopwatch
  • Multi-function alarm
  • 24hr countdown timer
  • 12/12 Hr formats
  • 42.8mm case

Conclusion :

There isn’t much else to say, for me this was one for the collection, and if you want one you will have to move quickly – stock is already low and the eBay scum (sorry I mean resellers) are already requesting a premium.  Stock is still out there so make sure to look around before lining the dirts‘ pockets.

Everything about the G-Shock is how you would expect, the build quality is excellent, the feel is excellent and the ‘cap case’ is just too cool!

For me, personally, I prefer a larger watch, I would describe this as a medium case but then again it is 42.8mm so for most people thats probably on the larger scale.  It’s just personal preference and given that is the size of the DW5600 model that is simply how it is.
