2024 Tandragee 100 Cancelled :
The North Armagh Club have confirmed today via a press release that the 2024 Tandragee 100 has been cancelled.
On behalf of the North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club (Tarmac Section) Ltd it is with deep regret that I confirm that the 2024 Around A Pound Tandragee 100 has been cancelled.
We have been unable to gain commitment for necessary resurfacing to be carried out in time to meet extended deadlines: (a) to confirm our intent to commit with MCUI UC (and relevant other Clubs) to a sizeable non-refundable insurance premium quotation; and (b) to confirm with 2&4W Motorsport Ltd definite use of a Road Closing Order (which will provide enough time to allow another motorsport club to make application for use of same in 2024). We wish every success for all other motorsport clubs in 2024.
As a Club, after many months of lobbying and negotiations, we are very disappointed, however we are committed to do everything we can to ensure some level of resurfacing takes place at some stage in 2024 to enable us to bring this awe inspiring event back in 2025. We wish to take this opportunity to thank all our competitors, sponsors, landowners, volunteers and spectators for their continued support.
No 2024 Road Racing Events in Republic of Ireland :
The Motorcycle Union of Ireland have confirmed via a press release that there will be no road racing events held in the Republic of Ireland in 2024.
Whilst this is obviously hugely disappointing it should be noted that through very obvious hard work and dedication, from the organisation, there is hope for a better 2024. An insurance quote has been obtained which covers many motorcycle sport disciplines. No such quote was even obtained in 2023.
Therefore, tentatively, it looks like there will be a return to two wheel motorsports in Ireland in 2024 and the MCI stress that they will continue to support the roads legacy and work towards a return to road racing as soon as possible.
The Board of Motorcycling Ireland wish to confirm that through the hard work of our insurance committee and outside experts, we have secured a quote for insurance for the 2024 competition season. Although we have received a quote, as expected the cost for this coverage presents a significant financial challenge.
The North West 200 have announced via a press release that they have secured a new title sponsor for the 2024 event and beyond in a three year deal with Briggs Equipment.
Coleraine and District Motor Club is delighted to welcome Briggs Equipment on board as our new title sponsor for the 2024 North West 200.
Briggs Equipment has enjoyed previous involvement with the event as a team and race sponsor. The announcement of this new three-year title agreement provides a major boost for the iconic north coast festival of racing.
“It feels great to confirm that the Briggs North West 200 will bring the best road racing in the world to the Triangle circuit in May next year,” Briggs Equipment Ireland Managing Director, Gary Clements, said.
Nomad Sport Band Review : Apple Watch Band
Apple’s Apple Watch straps and bands are difficult to beat in terms of fit and quality. They are well made, feel right, fit right and look right. Whether you are looking at the Nike Sport Loop, the Apple Watch Ultra Dive Strap, one of the official offerings from Hermes, or something in between you are guaranteed to have something that will have quality, form and function. One more things is guaranteed – they are costly.
So you have something that works well and looks right but is also expensive. The result then is the market will be flooded with bootlegs. A quick browse on an international marketplace will show hundreds of options for copy straps that instead of costing somewhere between £50-£100+ you will have similar ‘looking’ options that start at a few £s.
Often though, you get what you pay for and often these bootlegs will look the part in the photos but when you receive them the quality is far less that what you would hope for. You can get lucky but I have always found that the fitting systems on non genuine straps is poor. The band (especially the fabric options) can often be reasonable but the fitting is pretty useless.
All is not lost though. There are some good third party accessory manufacturers who make products that are not simply a knock off of one of Apple’s designs. They spend money in research and development and come up with alternative and functional products.
One such company is Nomad.
I have recently reviewed another Nomad product, the Nomad Rugged Case, which I have used now for around 6 weeks – it has not been off my phone and still looks exactly as it did when purchased. This was a huge contributing factor as to why I opted to try the Nomad Sport Band Apple Watch Strap.
2024 Cookstown 100 Tickets on Sale for Christmas

After requests about Christmas Vouchers for presents, the club will make Vouchers available to order until the 9th December 2023 to allow time for postage!

Richard Cooper’s 2022 NW200 Supertwin Wins Reinstated :
Richard Cooper crossed the finish line first in both of the 2022 North West 200 Supertwin Races. He was riding the JMC Roofing Kawasaki machine which had been prepared by Ryan Farquhar. A infringement was found following the first race, which related to a bracket on the fairings of the machine. An appeal was immediately lodged and Cooper was allowed to enter the second race under appeal. The result of this infringement was then ruled to be disqualification from both races. The appeal process was already in action, as was the controversy.
The Appeal was finally upheld on 1st November 2023.
