Alastair Seeley Targets Landmark 30th Victory at 2026 Briggs Equipment North West 200
The most successful rider in the history of the Briggs Equipment North West 200, Alastair Seeley, is set to return to the iconic north coast event in 2026 with one clear objective — securing a milestone 30th race victory.
The 46-year-old Carrickfergus rider will compete in the Supersport class at the May 4–9 event aboard a Binch Pro Racing Ducati, backed by 3B Construction. With 29 wins already to his name around the legendary 8.9-mile Triangle course, Seeley remains as motivated as ever to extend his record.
A Champion’s Drive Remains Undiminished
After missing the 2024 event due to a lack of competitive machinery, Seeley returned last year and made an immediate impact. He secured a podium finish in the Merrow Hotel Superbike race on the Nicholl Oils/SMS BMW — a performance that reinforced his enduring competitiveness.
However, for Seeley, the story remains unfinished.
His most recent North West victories came in 2023, when he achieved a Superstock double on a Synetiq BMW. Notably, 13 of his 29 victories have come in the Supersport class — making it a natural focal point for his 2026 campaign.
Reflecting on the milestone ahead, Seeley commented:
“I had thought it would be good to equal my race number — 34 — but 30 is a nice round number so we will go for that.”
Strong Foundations with Binch Racing
Seeley is already familiar with the Binch Racing setup. He finished sixth in the 2024 British Supersport Championship with the team aboard a Yamaha R6, and last season continued his involvement by mentoring the squad’s young riders, Joe Talbot and Oliver Barr.
That existing relationship provides a strong platform for 2026, as Seeley prepares to leave nothing to chance in his pursuit of another North West triumph.
Focused Preparation and Renewed Fitness
Determined to return at full strength, Seeley has addressed a long-standing elbow issue that had hampered his performance.
“I have had an elbow issue that has hampered me for a while and before Christmas I got it sorted with an operation,” he explained.
“Now I am back in training and building up to full fitness in the gym and riding off road.”
Preparation will also take a new direction this year. For the first time in his career, Seeley will have access to a dedicated training bike to maximise track time — something he has always regarded as essential for success around the demanding Triangle circuit.
“This will be the first time in my career when I will have a training bike,” he said.
“I have a Ducati for track days so I can get out at Bishopscourt and Kirkistown. And there will be pre-season testing in Spain and I will be at the official BSB tests as well.”
Acknowledging the need to regain momentum after limited racing since last year’s North West, he added:
“I am lacking track time so I do need to play catch up and get some mileage done because I haven’t ridden since last year at the North West and a lot of the opposition will have been doing BSB gigs.”
Supersport Priority — With More to Come?
While the Supersport class is firmly his primary focus for 2026, discussions are also underway regarding a potential Superstock ride with another team for the event.
For a rider who has defined an era at the North West 200, the hunger clearly remains. With renewed fitness, structured preparation, and strong team support, Alastair Seeley’s pursuit of a landmark 30th victory promises to be one of the defining storylines of the 2026 event.
