Press Release for 2027 “Ulster Grand Prix”

Press Release dated – 22/05/2026

Motor Cycle Road Racing between the hedges in Ireland has been attracting competitors and spectators since 1903 when the Governing Body for Motor Cycle Racing was first established.

This year the MCUI (UC) has five road race events in Northern Ireland, Cookstown 100, NW200 which have already been completed, the Tandragee 100, Armoy and the Mid Antrim 150 are still to come between the end of June and July months.

November 2025, we published the plans for the return of the Ulster Grand Prix in 2027.

The planning and funding stages are very much underway, with various meetings with the local council LCCC and amenity providers on the course preparation.

Areas of road surface in need of repair have been identified with DFI Roads Eastern division and meetings with Openreach on relocation of several telegraph poles have taken place with positive discussions.

Shortly after our November announcement we had a constructive residents meeting in the Ballymac Hotel, at which there was a willingness from them to see this great event return under the new management group.

The famous Dundrod 7.4-mile course is set to host the “Ulster Grand Prix” in the summer of 2027 within Lisburn & Castlereagh City council boundaries, and under the guidance from the MCUI (UC) and promoted by our “Ulster Centre Sports Promotions” company and race officials.

Our 2027 UGP plan is bringing back probably the purest and most natural road race events in the world with a “world class” entry of competitors. It is imperative for the event to happen that support from the Department of Communities for essential safety items and funding via Sport NI and 2&4 Wheel, TNI input on tourism and support from the local Council.

The event will need much financial support, and we are currently inviting potential sponsors, investors to engage asap to raise the estimated running cost of £1m. The event will incorporate a full business plan which will deliver a sustainable world class event for years to come. The UGP event has the potential to generate another fantastic Northern Ireland tourism attraction from across the globe visitors, with bed night bookings for local hotels, B&B, glamping and campsites which are expected before the end of 2026. The visiting tourist generates millions of income for the local economy. There will also be fund raising events held later this year for the public to get involved with and making sure the event returns. The Ulster Grand Prix Supporters club are onboard and assisting with all our plans.

This event can only happen with the support of everyone mentioned above and the Road Race supporters and sponsors, we are grateful of the assistance and support to date for this event by the MCUI (UC) Clubs.

“Roll on Summer 2027”.
