Richard Cooper’s 2022 NW200 Supertwin Wins Reinstated :

Richard Cooper crossed the finish line first in both of the 2022 North West 200 Supertwin Races. He was riding the JMC Roofing Kawasaki machine which had been prepared by Ryan Farquhar. A infringement was found following the first race, which related to a bracket on the fairings of the machine. An appeal was immediately lodged and Cooper was allowed to enter the second race under appeal. The result of this infringement was then ruled to be disqualification from both races. The appeal process was already in action, as was the controversy.

The Appeal was finally upheld on 1st November 2023.

A statement from the MCUI(UC) concluded the following :

“The appeal had been lodged by Richard Cooper’s team J McC Roofing at the NW200 on the 14th May 2022, after the race results were protested against, the Milltown Service Station Supertwin Race Winner (Cooper) was then excluded from the results for a technical infringement.

“Richard Cooper was allowed to compete in JM Paterson Supertwin race 2 on the day under appeal.

“Unfortunately, the MCUI (UC) failed to hold an appeal in a timely manner. The appeal was subsequently heard on November 1st 2023.

“A panel of five appointed Jury members heard the appeal and submissions from Richard Cooper’s Team before reaching a decision.”

Richard Cooper has now had his race wins reinstated and prize monies paid.

Richard Cooper took wins the Supertwin Races again in 2023 and set a new lap record in the first race with a 112.251mph lap.
