2026: ONE OF IRELAND’S GREAT ROAD RACES CONTINUES TO DEFY CHALLENGES FACING THE SPORT – CELEBRATING 80 YEARS OF PURE ROAD RACING

The Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club (LMSC) are announcing the return of the Country Crest Skerries 100 in what is its 80th year of pure road racing. Road race dates are Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 July 2026.

This iconic course stretches for 2.9 miles around the outskirts of the picturesque town of Skerries, with its breathtaking sea views and plush countryside.

A lot has happened in the racing world since these road races were last run in 2022. Like many events, the Country Crest Skerries 100 now operates in a more challenging environment shaped by rising costs and safety expectations. Following signi+cant strides in meeting these challenges and successfully securing insurance for the event, the LMSC will continue to run all classes and have some new exciting additions to the race programme. Further information on this and more will be provided through the Club’s usual social media outlets and website closer to the event.

The LMSC are very grateful to the many sponsors who have stayed with us through uncertain times over the past few years on the future of the event, and to new sponsors who have come on stream to ensure we have the ability to keep pure road racing alive and well in the suburbs of North County Dublin. As always, we acknowledge and are indebted to our course residents who remain steadfast in their support of the event.

Despite the disappointment of not being in a position to run this event for the last few years, it is the resilience of our club members and their unwavering commitment to keeping the Country Crest Skerries 100 on the Irish road racing map that has brought us to this point, and we cannot wait to experience the sound and colour of racing bikes whipping around the course to the delight of the spectators again.

As always, our sincere gratitude to our local company Country Crest, who remain the title sponsor of the race meeting.

Michael & Gabriel Hoey, owners of Country Crest, said:

“As title sponsor, Country Crest is proud to be associated with an event that has such a strong tradition, community spirit and national pro+le. The Skerries 100 is more than a race weekend — it is a celebration of dedication, local pride and the passion that brings competitors, volunteers, businesses and spectators together year after year.

At Country Crest, we believe in supporting communities and events that showcase the very best of Ireland, and the Skerries 100 continues to do exactly that in North County Dublin. We are honoured to play a part in supporting the continued growth and success of the event in 2026.

We would like to thank the Loughshinny Motorcycle Club for its tireless commitment and dedication in making this event possible once again. We wish all competitors a successful and safe weekend, and we look forward to another fantastic Skerries 100 this year.”

Rory McKay Chairperson of the Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club said:

“Following several years of uncertainty on the future of road racing in Ireland, Loughshinny Motorcycle Supporters Club is proud to be launching the Country Crest Skerries 100, one of Ireland’s iconic road racing events. This historic race meeting was %rst held in 1946 and has been keenly supported by riders, course residents, the local community and a dedicated group of volunteers ever since. It celebrates the passion, skill and collective love of the sport that de%nes Irish road racing. We look forward to a long-awaited thrilling event and to welcoming fans from across the country and beyond. 2026 is all about securing the future of road racing in places like Skerries and we are evolving how the event is delivered while protecting what makes it special for all involved.”
