WRC to return to UK in 2027 : Rally Scotland

The FIA World Rally Championship will return to the United Kingdom in 2027 with the introduction of WRC Rally Scotland, marking the series’ comeback to one of rallying’s most historic territories.

Developed in partnership with Motorsport UK, the new gravel-based event will be based in north-east Scotland, with rally headquarters and service park facilities located at the state-of-the-art P&J Live complex in Aberdeen. Stages will run across the surrounding regions of Aberdeenshire and Moray.

The agreement forms an initial three-year deal beginning in 2027 and ends an eight-year absence for the championship in the UK, following the most recent running of Wales Rally GB in 2019.

Scotland’s dramatic landscapes and world-class forest roads are expected to provide a spectacular sporting challenge for the WRC’s leading drivers and manufacturers, while the region’s infrastructure and transport links offer a strong platform for teams, media and fans attending the event.

The rally has been secured through a partnership between Motorsport UK, WRC Promoter and the Scottish Government, with support from Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire councils. Together, the stakeholders aim to establish Rally Scotland as a major international sporting event delivering significant economic and tourism benefits for the region.

After a frenetic first week of navigation tests, marathon challenges and multiple leaderboard shakeups, the 48th Dakar Rally charged into its second week with everything still to play for. With dunes raising temperatures and spirits alike, the second marathon stage and final five specials delivered drama, strategy, heartbreak and history – true to the spirit that has made Dakar the world’s toughest motorsport adventure.

One of the more exciting events in motorsports is coming. The perfect way to bring in the New Year! The 48th Edition of the Dakar is about to start!

The Start Ramp and Prologue will be held on Saturday 3rd January 2026, with Stage 1 taking place on Sunday 4th January 2026.

The Dakar is one of the, if not the, most famous endurance races on the planet and with everything from bikes to trucks taking on one of the toughest navigation rallies ever conceived there is something for every genre of motorsport fan.

This year the route has been described by the Dakar Organisation as :

With the 2026 edition’s route, we are certainly at the highest standards, as the record for kilometres covered in special stages, in the time the rally has been held in Saudi Arabia, will be nearly matched. Drivers and crews will not escape fatigue, and they must also demonstrate their skill in handling all types of sand, and tracks of all kinds. On the other hand, the decision to reduce the number of bivouacs means they will be greeted by support teams that are more often rested and ready to go as soon as they arrive.
Along with the variety of challenges, a concern for balance also guided the route’s design. Therefore, the introduction of a new variant of marathon stages, with an overnight stay in a bivouac, required that one be set up in the middle of each week of the race. Similarly, intense stages are followed by opportunities to take a breather on both sides of the rest day, while not striving for absolute symmetry.

YANBU, A REGULAR STOP
Dakar competitors became acquainted with Yanbu in the final stretch of the 2021 edition. And it was also near this town that the first Sea Camp was established in 2023, adopting the concept of an XXL bivouac that brought together all the event’s participants in one location in the days leading up to the race. Since then, Yanbu has also hosted the final stage of the 2024 Dakar Rally. It is now the starting point for a vast loop, which will end as it begins: to the sound of the gentle lapping of the Red Sea waves.

Prepare a Motorcycle for Winter Storage : The Ultimate Guide to Winter Motorcycle Storage :

As the days get shorter and the mercury on the thermometer dips, the inevitable time has come to put your motorcycle away for winter.

Don’t just toss a sheet over it and walk away! Proper preparation is crucial to ensure your bike emerges in spring ready to ride, looking perfect and not needing a major overhaul.

This guide covers everything you need to do, from cleaning to fuelling and fluid management as well as what I feel as the most important think for any bike over the winter – the application of ACF-50.

Step 1: The Deep Clean : 🧼

Before any protective measures can be applied, your bike must be spotless. Dirt, road salt, and grime are your enemy; they trap moisture and accelerate corrosion.

Wash Thoroughly: Give your motorcycle the best wash of its life. Use a quality cleaner and a soft sponge. Pay special attention to the underside, swingarm, wheels, and any hard-to-reach crevices where crud hides.
Dry Completely: This is non-negotiable. Use a microfibre towel, an air blower, or take it for a very short, slow ride (5-10 minutes) to let engine heat evaporate water from tricky spots like the exhaust headers and electrical connectors.

🧼 What Cleaner? My personal recommendation for a general purpose motorcycle cleaner is SDOC100. It is available in a 750ml spray bottle, but the real value is in the 5 litre drum. It is excellent stuff and eats through dirt and grime with very little effort needed. It is expensive stuff but well worth it, and five litres will last a considerable period of time.

Subaru have revealed their Performance-B STI Concept this week and as a previous Impreza STI owner all I can say is I love it!

Subaru have shown their rally heritage still maters and hopefully this concept becomes a reality in the not too distant future, although I doubt I will able to stretch the wallet anywhere near far enough. I predict Type-R money maybe in and around the £50,000 mark.

From what we can see from the images lifted from various sources across the net there is a modern WRX style interior, but with SI-Drive, and a DCCD selector, along with STI branding and a rally necessity – a flat bottom steering wheel.

A Performace-E STI was also showcased, but it is the Performance-B that absolutely caught my eye and whilst the vocal few having been screaming hate about it, the overwhelming majority consensus seems to be, “Subaru – release this now!!

The Nürburgring has issued a statement detailing some huge changes in relation to motorcycles on the Nurburgring. 2025 will see bikes and cars no longer sharing the track in a move that is designed to make the Ring safer for 2 wheeled machines.

A FOCUS ON SAFETY – REVAMPED PROGRAM FOR MOTORCYCLISTS AT THE NÜRBURGRING

The Nürburgring has restructured its offering for motorcyclists. The most important change is that motorcycles and cars will no longer be on the tracks at the same time. To make the Nürburgring experience particularly safe for bikers, the track operator is introducing professional training and exclusive time slots for two-wheelers from this season onwards.

The Nürburgring’s tourist rides are a popular attraction for everyone. Anyone with their own vehicle can take a turn on the Grand Prix circuit and the Nordschleife during opening hours. “The safety of all participants is our top priority,” explains Nürburgring Managing Director Ingo Böder, drawing attention to a crucial finding in this context: ”We have taken a very close look at the situation regarding the simultaneous participation of cars and motorcycles in tourist trips.” The analysis revealed that “the different driving dynamics can lead to misunderstandings between two- and four-wheelers,” says Böder. “In this case, motorcyclists are particularly at risk because, unlike car drivers, they have no crumple zone. That is why we have decided to strictly separate cars and motorcyclists in the future and to restructure the offer for bikers so that they can enjoy the Nürburgring experience as safely as possible.”

Honda Racing UK have announced their 2025 Rider lineup for both their roads and circuit campaign, and for this year’s TT the team will consist of Dean Harrison and John McGuiness.

In a lineup of familiar faces, Honda Racing UK is delighted to reveal the riders campaigning for the manufacturer throughout the 2025 season in British Championship racing and at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT races.

In the Bennetts British Superbike series, Tommy Bridewell continues for a second year determined to go one better next season and become a two-time BSB champion. His remarkable 2024 campaign was punctuated with three wins and a further sixteen podiums en route to second in the championship standings, just a single point away from consecutive titles on alternate manufacturers.

Joining him aboard a Honda Racing UK Fireblade once more is Northern Irishman Andrew Irwin, who is set to embark on his fifth season with the team (2019-2020, 2023-2025). A previous winner aboard Honda machinery, he made a welcome return to the podium on multiple occasions last year and targets more in 2025.

Returning to race once more in the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT Races, Dean Harrison is eager to build on an excellent debut year racing the Fireblade and CBR600RR on the roads. Podiums aboard Superbike, Superstock & Supersport machinery in his first year of racing for Honda laid the solid foundations on which to build in 2025. Dean will also supplement his road racing activities with a season of racing in the British Supersport category.

Lining up alongside him in the iconic colours of Honda once more to compete solely in the ‘big bike’ classes is road racing royalty, John McGuinness MBE. His popular return to the podium at this year’s NW200 was a clear standout from his thirty-fourth season of motorcycle racing, and with season thirty-five now confirmed, he and Honda look set to continue making history together for another year.

Bilt Hamber Touchless Dilution Guide :

Bilt Hamber recommends using their Panel Impact Ratio (PIR) system to work out the exact amount of TOUCH-LESS required to get the best results. This is based around percentages: 0.5% for maintenance, up to 2% for very dirty vehicles.

The aim is to work out the real-world flow rate of your pressure washer.

You only need to do this process once..

Take note of how much water goes through your specific pressure washer and the corresponding dilution ratio/amount of product you need to measure out.

For snow foam lances:

Fill the reservoir up to capacity with plain water.
Turn the dilution knob to maximum (‘thickest’ foam).
Discharge the lance into a bucket, watching the reservoir until empty.
When the reservoir is empty, stop.
Now you’ll need a measuring jug.
For 2% dilution (very dirty vehicles), measure the amount of water in your bucket and multiply this number by 0.02. For example, if the total amount of water used is 10000ml (10L), you would need 200ml of TOUCH-LESS.
For maintenance washes, multiply the total amount of water used by 0.005. 10000ml takes you to 50ml of TOUCH-LESS.
Re-fill the reservoir with water and the correct amount of TOUCH-LESS. Shake for a few moments and you’re ready to go.
You can of course experiment with dilution ratios and the effect TOUCH-LESS has on your vehicle.

The Southern 100 Club have announced their proposed schedule changes for the 2025 Southern 100 Road Races.

PROPOSED REVISED PRACTICE & RACE SCHEDULE FOR SOUTHERN 100 ROAD RACES 2025

Southern 100 Racing, promoters of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races are proposing to amend the Practice and Race Schedule for the 2025 Road Races, which will be held Monday to Thursday 7^th – 10^thJuly.

Subject to the Road Closing Orders being approved it is anticipated that Practicing will commence on the afternoon of Bank Holiday Monday 7^th July, between 1.45pm and 4.00pm.

Two contingency periods are proposed, the first on Wednesday 9^th July between 1.15pm and 3.15pm, only to be used if any of the practice sessions are lost on Monday or Tuesday.

The second contingency period is for Thursday evening, between 6.00pm and 8.30pm, again only to be actioned if racing on Championship Day is lost.

Southern 100 Race Secretary said: ‘Safety is the highest priority, and practice is a very important component of the event, and we decided that an additional session on the Monday afternoon would ease the pressure on the evening session, especially for newcomers to the races.

‘The contingency sessions would only be activated, firstly on the Wednesday afternoon, in the event of Monday or Tuesday sessions being lost and Thursday evening, should a large part of Thursday be lost.’

The Roads Closing Order being requested is as follows:

Monday Afternoon (Bank Holiday) from 1:45pm to 4pm
Monday Evening from 6pm until 9:40pm
Tuesday Evening from 6pm until 9:40pm
Wednesday Afternoon (Contingency only to be used if we lose a prior session) from 1:15pm until 3:15pm
Wednesday Evening from 6pm until 9:40pm
Thursday Morning from 9:30am until 12:45pm
Thursday Afternoon from 1:30pm until 4:45pm
Thursday Evening (Contingency only to be used if we lose Thursday) from 6pm until 8:30pm
