2025 Cookstown 100 Results

2025 Cookstown 100 Results :

The 2025 Cookstown 100 ran over the weekend of 25th and 26th April 2025 and marked the opening of the 2025 Road Racing Season.

Three races were scheduled for Friday evening (25/04/2025) however due to inclement weather on the day no racing took place, however a full and busy, if rather reserved, day of practice took place which at least got everyone out on track and got wheels turning on the 2025 season.

Saturday 26th April 2025 was the main race day and with only a little rain in the morning the track soon dried out and then the sun came out and it was glorious – definitely a day for the sun cream.

The dried out course made for some fantastic racing with Michael Dunlop setting a new course lap record of 91.773 mph – previously was 91.480mph – as well as having two superb duels with Derek McGee and Michael Sweeney.

Unfortunately also the Saturday did showcase the dangers of road racing with 2 requirements of the Air Ambulance to extract injured riders. Here’s hoping for a quick and full recovery for all of those involved in the race incidents.

2025 Irish Sidecar Club Bike Show, Dundrod, 29th March 2025 :

The show season has started to gain some momentum for the 2025 season, for both bikes and cars. Bike shows have started appearing across the country and ‘Cars and Coffees’ have started to reappear on Sunday mornings taking over McDonald’s Car Parks everywhere. In fact the biggest car show in the country is next week in the form of Dubshed, Round 1 of the Ulster Superbikes is next week at Bishopscourt and the first road race of the year, the 2025 Cookstown 100, is now just under a month away!

Today it was the turn of the Irish Sidecar Club’s bike show which was held at the paddock of the Ulster Grand Prix site at Dundrod.

This is a small show, but at only a fiver it well worth a trip out to the Dundrod Circuit. IT occupies one of the hangars on the site and it was well filled with two and three wheeled machinery, that had its origins right across the biking spectrum. From the really old to the really new, from step throughs to road going superbikes accompanied by race bikes and sidecar machines there is something for everyone – and it supports it the sport!

Support the Sport!

So what was on display? I have put together a gallery of the show which you can find here :

MLav Racing set for 2025 TT and NW200

MLav Racing set for 2025 TT and NW200 :

MLav Racing will expand its presence into road racing for the 2025 season.

During MotoGP Free Practice One at the Argentine Grand Prix, it was unofficially announced that Michael Laverty will enter his MLav Racing team into the 2025 Isle of Man TT and North West 200.

An official announcement is expected in a few weeks, but Neil Hodgson made the announcement live on air.

Laverty will utilise BMW machinery during the two road racing events and  the machines will be ridden by TT Royalty in the form of  Ian Hutchinson alongside Mike Browne.

“We are forming a team for the Isle of Man TT and the North West 200 this year,” Laverty stated on TNT Sports.

“We will have a few accomplished riders on board… Ian Hutchinson and Irish rider Mike Browne. We will hopefully be officially announcing it in the next week or so.

“We will be operating BMW-powered machinery. I am currently finalising the livery, with a deadline today for RST to produce the suits in time for testing.

“Ian Hutchinson has 17 Isle of Man TT victories to his name, with his most recent triumph occurring in 2017 during the Superstock TT. The 45-year-old made his return to the TT in 2024 after missing the event in 2023 due to a stroke.

Mike Browne has quickly established himself as a rising star at the TT. The Irish rider made his debut at the event in 2019 and has since competed in 14 TTs, securing two podium finishes, both in the Supertwin TT.”
