UPDATE : 25/04/2023 : The 2023 Ulster Grand Prix has been cancelled. Full details are available here : https://tbni.blog/2023/04/25/2023-ulster-grand-prix-cancelled/

The 2023 Ulster Grand Prix has been scheduled for 18th – 19th August 2023.

The event last ran in 2019 and following financial difficulties within the organising structure a winding up order was set by the Court.

2022 marked the centenary of the Ulster GP and although no racing took place on the iconic Dundrod course, a celebration day was held in August organised by the UGP Supporters Club.

Hope remained for the event in 2023 in the form of the Revival Racing Motorcycle Club, however earlier in the year they confirmed their withdrawal of bidding to run the event.

At the time the Dundrod Club had also applied to run the event, and it seems that that process has taken another step forward.

The Dundrod Club have now confirmed that the 2023 UGP will run on 18th – 19th August 2023.

No 2023 Ulster Grand Prix? – Press Release

2023 Ulster Grand Prix Not Set to Make a Revival?

PRESS RELEASE – REVIVAL RACING MCC LTD – ULSTER GRAND PRIX 2023

27th October 2022

As a Motorcycle event promotor, we have been assessing the feasibility of reviving the UGP in 2023. Unfortunately, due to the shortness of available time to develop the plan with all vested parties such as the MCUI (UC), sponsors, local and central government, we cannot ascertain how much funding is available to run a successful event, therefore the risk in running the UGP is simply far too great for us to consider.  As this situation is unlikely to change in time to allow us to progress for 2023, we have therefore reluctantly withdrawn our UGP date application with the MCUI (UC).

Our Revival Racing MCC will continue to focus on our successful Classic Bike Festival Ireland, making further announcements in the New Year. Additionally, we will continue to be ready to promote the UGP if the situation in the future makes this viable. We would like to extend our thanks all those who have supported us, our club members, sponsors, and friends with special thanks to Tourism NI and Lisburn & Castlereagh Council for indicating their support had we been promoting the UGP in 2023.

Phillip McCallen – Robin Titterington

Directors – Revival Racing MCC Ltd.

Ends.

PRESS RELEASE – REVIVAL RACING MCC LTD – ULSTER GRAND PRIX 2023

The Dundrod Club have applied to run the 2023 Ulster GP meeting at the Dundrod circuit with provisional dates of 12th – 19th August 2023. That looks like the last chance (for 2023 anyway) for a Ulster Grand Prix.

2022 Ulster Grand Prix Day of Celebration :

DAY OF CELEBRATION TO MARK ULSTER GRAND PRIX CENTENARY ON AUGUST 20, 2022

A special day of celebration to mark the centenary of the Ulster Grand Prix motorcycle race will take place at the paddock area of the Dundrod circuit on Saturday, August 20.

Organised by the Ulster Grand Prix Supporters Club and the Dundrod and District Motorcycle Club with the support of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council, the event will run from 11am until 5pm with free admission.

Bruce Anstey, a 13 times winner at the Ulster, will be joined by BSB and road racing star, Glenn Irwin alongside a line-up of other road racers from past including Ray McCullough BEM, the winner of the last 250cc World Championship race at Dundrod in 1971.

There will also be a large collection of classic and racing machinery on display, including at least one machine from every decade of competition at the Ulster.

Also on the day 100 riders will officially have the opportunity to take part in a special ride-out lap of the 7.4 mile Co. Antrim circuit to mark the occasion, which still retains the title as the World’s Fastest Road racing course.

With lots of family fun and entertainment in the paddock area, Saturday August 20 promises to be a great day out for all the family, giving race fans an opportunity to reflect on the past and share stories of yesteryear with the motorbiking family as the grand old race celebrates its 100th birthday.

If you wish to be one of the lucky 100 riders to take part in the ride out, please go to the UGP Web Site, www.ulstergrandprix.net where you will find the details on how to purchase the limited entry.

2023 Ulster Grand Prix to Go Ahead?

2023 Ulster Grand Prix to Go Ahead?

A post has appeared on Facebook claiming that an application has been made for a 2023 Ulster Grand Prix.

“The Revival Racing Motorcycle Club have officially applied to the MCUI (UC) to run the 2023 Ulster Grand Prix on Saturday 12th August (subject to BSB dates). This club is headed by Phillip McCallen a 16-time winner around the Dundrod Circuit.”

2023 Ulster Grand Prix to Go Ahead?
2023 UGP to Go Ahead?

The last time the Ulster Grand Prix ran was 2019, financial difficulties and rumours re the alleged poor management of the event spread like wildfire, much like Covid 19, which ultimately resulted in the event being cancelled in 2020 and 2021.

A last ditched effort to save the event for the Centenary year of 2022 failed and a Day of Celebration was instead panned to mark the 100th year.

This is superb news for the 2023 Road Racing Calendar and may be a lifeline to the event in the longer term.
