Alan Oversby : Pre-TT Classic Road Races Statement : 24th May 2026
STATEMENT ISSUED FROM THE SOUTHERN 100 ROAD RACES
Southern 100 Road Races regrets to confirm that Alan Oversby, aged 68, from Bolton-Le-Sands lost his life in an incident during the 400cc Race today at the Pre-TT Classic Road Races. The accident occurred on the approach to Ballakeighan, on the second lap of the race.
Alan was an experienced Pre-TT Classic Road Races competitor, first competing in 2005 and taking his first win in 2006.
In total, Alan took 16 wins including two today.
Southern 100 Road Races extend their deepest sympathy to Alan’s wife Julie, family, team and friends.
I have said this before, I will say it again and I will totally stand over it, there is no better way to start your TT Festival than the Pre-TT Classic Road Races at the Billown Circuit in Castletown, Isle of Man.
Held on the spectacular Southern 100 Course the Pre-TT Races mark the official start of the Manx Road Racing Season and given that it is run by the ‘Friendly Races’ you can be assured of a magical weekend of racing – featuring both 2 and 3 wheelers!
The Southern 100 Road Races Committee is pleased to announce the proposed schedule for the 2026 Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races.
The 2026 programme will broadly follow the established format of recent years, beginning on Monday 6th July with newcomer familiarisation and qualifying. Sessions are scheduled to run from 6:00pm until approximately 9:40pm, allowing for two qualifying sessions per solo class and one session for sidecars.
On Tuesday, competitors will take part in a further qualifying session for each class, followed by the opening two races of the meeting.
A key addition to the 2026 schedule is an extra qualifying session on Wednesday morning. Subject to road closure approval, roads will close at 9:45am and reopen by 11:50am, providing sufficient time for one qualifying session per class.
Racing will then continue Wednesday evening, with road closures from 6:00pm until 9:40pm.
Championship Day will take place on Thursday 9th July, with roads closed from 9:30am until approximately 4:45pm. A scheduled lunch break will allow roads to reopen between 12:45pm and 1:30pm.
