The Northern Ireland Game of Thrones Tour

The Dark Hedges, Ballymoney, Northern Ireland

With biking season now rapidily approaching you may be thinking to yourself, ‘Where shall I go?  What shall I do?’

The Northern Ireland Tourist board have an entire section of their website dedicated to GoT locations (and since I did their original tour they have updated it further):

Northern Ireland - Game of Thrones Filming Locations
Northern Ireland – Game of Thrones Filming Locations

Personally I haven’t seen a single episode of Game of Thrones, crazy eh?  But forgetting that each of these locations are simply stunning!  The show has picked them for very obvious reasons and when you you see them for yourself you will understand why!  Simply set the location into your satnav, and press the Winding Roads Button (if you are lucky enough to have one) and enjoy the ride, because you will absolutely enjoy the fnal destination!

Here is just a little taster for each location to wet your appitite, the rest I will leave up to you :

Belfast HOG & BOG 2016 – Newcastle Co. Down, Northern Ireland 06/08/2016

As luck would have it I was fortunate enough to be in Newcastle on 6th August 2016 for the Festival of Flight (which I really should add was excellent!).  On the way into town I noticed a massive gathering of Harley Davidson Motorcycles at a local hotel.  It turns out it was their annual weekend meeting of the Belfast Chapter of the Harley Owner’s Group (HOG) and the Buell Owner’s Group (BOG) – See what they done there!

I was then fortunate enough to catch them leaving to go on their Saturday Run – what a turn out and what a noise!  Enjoy…

(I might need a Harley after this!)

The ‘Traditional’ Mournes – Newcastle and Up…

Route : Traditional Mournes.

Distance : 60 km

Time : 1.25 hours with few stops (longer to factor in meals and stops for photos / walks etc.)

Bike Restrictions : Any bike should cope, good well maintained roads throughout.

A short time ago I posted a little write up about the ‘Alternate’ Mournes.  The idea being to show people the other side of the Mournes that are often missed out by visitors, whether on a bike or four wheels.  The ‘Alternate’ Mournes takes visitors from Newry, Co. Down and goes up, it takes in places like Slieve Gullion, Meigh, and Forkhill, places that are often avoided to their shady pasts.  The ‘Traditional’ Mournes takes people from Newcastle, Co. Down and then up, and as you can see from the map below it takes in places such as Tollymore Forest Park, Spelga Dam and Silvent Valley.

06/05/2012 – The Day the Premier League is Decided?

With two games remaining in the Premier League for both Manchester sides today looks like the critical one. City are at the top of the league and when you look at the remaining matches on paper United should take all six points and City should have the three next week.

However today is the pivot. City take on Newcastle United and with the drive of Europe ahead of them, Newcastle definitely have a reason to dig the heels in.

The general consensus is that should City drop points here today then United will lift the trophy.

So come on Newcastle make us happy and slap City later.

Anyway it is the perfect time to have a little flutter, an interest bet in the football and I have decoded to go along with the hope that City will drop points today.

C’mon the Mighty Magpies!

(oh and I haven’t put in MUFC in the bet as it is only a low stakes interest bet and at 1/6 there’s no return, so Celtic away have filled in that spot at near evens)
