The Tandragee 100 has just received some great news. The North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club have issued a press release today addressing the issue of the a section of the circuit that has been the main reason behind the lack of the event for the past two years. Work will now go ahead to fix an issue around the surface on a section of the A51 and paths the way ahead for the 2025 Tandragee 100!

On behalf of the North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club (Tarmac Section) Ltd it is with great pleasure I confirm that we have received some extremely welcome news from the Department of Infrastructure (DfI) this afternoon. In their press release today “Infrastructure Minister John O’Dowd has announced his intention to proceed with resurfacing work later this year on a stretch of the A51”, which will enable us to progress our preparations for running the Tandragee 100 Motorcycle Road Races in 2025.
We are extremely grateful to all those who have continued to work hard behind the scenes since our last event in 2022, to the Minister and all those within DfI who have made this possible.
This is just the beginning of the hard work for us; we will now focus our full attention on securing the necessary financial resources and putting everything in place to enable us to apply for a Road Closing Order and undertake all the hundreds of activities that are needed to get the event up and running.
As a Club we are delighted, and we are, as we have always been, committed to doing everything we can to bring this awe-inspiring event back in 2025. We also wish to take this opportunity to thank all our competitors, sponsors, landowners, volunteers and spectators for their continued support.
On behalf of the North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club (Tarmac Section) Ltd it is with deep regret that I confirm that the 2024 Around A Pound Tandragee 100 has been cancelled.
We have been unable to gain commitment for necessary resurfacing to be carried out in time to meet extended deadlines: (a) to confirm our intent to commit with MCUI UC (and relevant other Clubs) to a sizeable non-refundable insurance premium quotation; and (b) to confirm with 2&4W Motorsport Ltd definite use of a Road Closing Order (which will provide enough time to allow another motorsport club to make application for use of same in 2024). We wish every success for all other motorsport clubs in 2024.
As a Club, after many months of lobbying and negotiations, we are very disappointed, however we are committed to do everything we can to ensure some level of resurfacing takes place at some stage in 2024 to enable us to bring this awe inspiring event back in 2025. We wish to take this opportunity to thank all our competitors, sponsors, landowners, volunteers and spectators for their continued support.
With the news that insurance has been secured for Northern Irish motorcycle sporting events information is coming thick and fast from all the clubs with the plans for their events , the necessity to support the sport, and the lack of time there is to get things in place to meet the events planned dates.
The 2023 Tandragee 100 will run over the 28th April 2023 – 29th April 2023.
Further details will be posted when the become available, however it is usual for the Friday (28/04) to be the main Practice Day with the Saturday (29/04) being the main race day.

2022 Tandragee 100 : Guy Martin and Dominic Herbertson out on the Classics
2022 marks the 60th Anniversary of the Tandragee 100 event and it kicked off on Friday 29th April with the Practice and Qualifying Sessions.
Conditions were perfect, the track was perfect, the set up was perfect and the event ran perfectly – an absolute credit to the Tandragee 100 Team.
The only issue with the Friday session was that (I would imagine) a right few people went home with a little sunburn!
It was a superb lead up to race day.
The weather forecast for race day for the previous week predicted rain, and despite everyone’s hopes that the rain may not actually come, or may come later, or simply the hope that ‘Those long range forecasts are quite often wrong.’ – the weather forecast was in fact correct. The rain came and started just in time for the road closure and never let up.
Three races ran, between five red flags, and then the conditions both on the track and in the sky worsened and the meeting was abandoned.
A difficult decision for the Club, but without doubt the right one.
The most important thing is everyone gets home safely, so the right call was made.
Friday showed what road racing can be, (I suppose Saturday did too) – so if you are new to the sport hold on to that Friday Feeling!
A sad ending to the event for the Club, but they can rest easy knowing the hard work was done, what they could control they did so flawlessly and what they couldn’t – well, it is what it is.
Now is the time for the final call for the 2022 Tandragee 100 Tickets. The Club have announced that pre-ordering of Programmes (including car parking) will close on 25th March 2022.
So as I said for the Cookstown 100 Tickets, make a move now and don’t be one of those people left shouting for tickets mere days before the event.

The Tandragee 100 have announced via a Facebook Post that the 2022 Tandragee 100 will be a ‘closed event’ – which effectively means a ticket only event, the Programme being your ticket.
There is just over a month left for you to get your ticket, so don’t be left scrambling in the weeks and days before the event, get your order in nice and early and relax in the knowledge you have the tickets booked for this year’s 60th anniversary event!

The Tandragee Club have confirmed via a Facebook Post that their 2021 event is now cancelled due to the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic.

***Press Release – 2021 Around A Pound Tandragee 100 Cancelled***
First and foremost, the safety of our society, more than ever, has to come first. Tonight’s announcement to cancel the 2021 Tandragee 100 National Motorcycle Road Races has been taken with the intention of keeping people safe. We look forward to returning in 2022.
It is important not only to consider the safety of our volunteers and officials, local residents and landowners, local businesses, the competitors and of course our spectators but also the wider general public. If we are to collectively reduce the spread of the disease and lessen the impact COVID 19 will have in the longer term we believe to gather in large numbers for our event is not appropriate given the circumstances.
Whilst the implementation of the COVID 19 Vaccines is welcome news, it is likely that only the most vulnerable and our precious HSC workforce will have received the first dose by the end of February with the second dose not completed until potentially the end of May. This will mean the full effect for these groups won’t be galvanised until June. In addition, it is likely that the rest of the population who want to avail of it won’t be vaccinated until autumn 2021.
At a time when our Health & Social Care Services are once again managing significantly increased demand we must not place an additional strain on their precious resources. Many of our event medical team and first aiders will still be needed to contribute to the HSC response across Northern Ireland and we also would not wish to potentially divert HSC ambulance and hospital resources to deal with any event related requirements. To all those involved in the response to COVID 19 we thank you.
As a Club we are of course very disappointed to have to take this decision to delay our 60th Anniversary Celebrations for a second time, however, it is the right thing to do. We believe it is important to let everyone involved know at the earliest opportunity, so everyone is not disadvantaged in any way. We will need everyone’s continued support in 2022 to enable us to celebrate our 60th Anniversary and deliver a truly exciting event.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal sponsors for their understanding and support. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this announcement causes. Our overall sponsor Gerard Rice from Around A Pound has indicated his support for this decision and agrees that the health of the population is just too important to jeopardise.
Never has the phrase ‘all in it together’ been so pertinent and just so important. The COVID 19 vaccines provide the long-term hope and the current lockdown offers the opportunity to shorten the duration of the current surge. We can all play our part too by staying at home, practising social distancing, good hand hygiene and wearing face coverings. We must all put our health first, don’t take any unnecessary risks. Keep up to date with and follow the advice given by the Public Health Agency. Think about the vulnerable in our society and act with compassion towards each other.
To anyone who is currently affected by COVID 19 and to those who will later become so, you are in our thoughts and prayers not only now but in the coming weeks and months.
