No 2025 Spring Cup at Oliver’s Mount
England’s only real road racing circuit has confirmed that there will be no 2025 Spring Cup.
If you subscribe or use the TBNI.Blog Road Racing Calendar you will have probably noticed the lack of the Oliver’s Mount Season Opener – the Spring Cup – which usually kicks off in March.
Unfortunately due to issues with the main road to the circuit the event has had to be cancelled to allow for completion of a temporary road to be built to allow continued access to Oliver’s Mount whilst repairs are undertaken on the main road to venue.
The good news is the rest of Oliver’s Mount schedule is still due to go ahead as planned and ultimately the repairs to the road will benefit the site well into the future.

The main public route into our events, Jackson’s Lane, has been closed since January 2019 but we have been allowed to use the road in a one-way, traffic controlled manner for our events throughout the 2019-2024 seasons, which has been a great help to keep racing at Oliver’s Mount alive during that period.
Following further recent deterioration in the condition of the road, North Yorkshire Council Highways are no longer able to allow us to make any use of Jackson’s Lane until it is properly repaired.
We have been in constructive discussions with the Highways department and several Councillors over the last 2 months to understand the long term future of Jackson’s Lane and also the immediate and long term impacts on Oliver’s Mount.
Whilst the loss of Jackson’s Lane is a major blow to our events, it was always going to happen sooner or later and for the long term future of Oliver’s Mount, it is best that we and the council face up to this challenge now.
Given Jackson’s Lane is an adopted highway, NYC Highways department are committed to repairing the road, even at considerable expense, but this will unfortunately take several years to achieve. In the meantime, North Yorkshire Council are looking to put a temporary road in from Musham Bank roundabout so that public access to Oliver’s Mount events is maintained when the race track is live until the Jackson’s Lane repair can be completed.This is fantastic news and helps secure the future of Oliver’s Mount for future generations and is a key element of our recovery plan for Oliver’s Mount.
The temporary road will likely require planning permission and as a result, is highly unlikely to be available for The Bob Smith Spring Cup in April. Rather than promote an event only to have to cancel it in March, we have taken the decision not to run The Spring Cup in the 2025 season but to start the major race events with The Cock o’ The North in June, followed up with The Barry Sheene festival in July, SuperMoto in August and Steve Henshaw Gold Cup in September. We also hope to run 2 full weekends of motorcycle hillclimbs in May and August. We are hoping to release our full 2025 events calendar this weekend at the NEC Bike Show.
North Yorkshire Council now appear to be ready to deal with this long standing and expensive issue and we must thank Councillors Rich Maw (Pictured), David Jeffels & Derek Bastiman who have all lent their support to finding a solution, as well as the officers of the North Yorkshire Highways department who are tackling the problem with energy and enthusiasm. There is a strong and definite commitment from the council to see Road Race events at Oliver’s Mount continue, which is great to see.
