2026 North West 200 Results :
The 2026 North West 200 ran over the week of 4th – 9th May 2026, with the first qualifying session being held on Wednesday 6th May 2026 and the second on Thursday 7th May 2026.
Due to a revised schedule following the death of a rider on Thursday’s daytime qualifying session there was no racing on the Thursday evening, with that race session being replaced with further qualifying.
The main, six race, day was held on Saturday 9th May 2026.

Saturday 9th May 2026 :
From the start of the first race of the day Jeremy McWilliams took the lead which he held onto well throughout the race, with the odd back and forth with Hickman on the spectacular looking Swan machine. Then on the final run along the Coast Road Hicky took the lead and managed to keep it uncontested until the chequered flag.
Paul Jordan made a mistake which took him off the track on the first lap, but by lap 3 was back in fourth position and fighting for third from Alastair Seeley. He managed to take third, but Seeley was not for giving up. It was an amazing ride from Joran, one which earned him the fastest lap, however on the final lap, Seeley got his podium position back darting up Jordan’s inside and refusing to back up or back off.
The chequered flag saw Hickman, McWilliams and Seeley complete the podium, but as is usual with the North West there was a little contraversy. No final lap flag was shown which was raised by both McWilliams and Hicky. McWilliams thinking he had another lap and maybe just wasn’t as defensive as he would have been had he been aware the end was so close.
A great start to the day.
The first obvious thing from the grid was Storm Stacey’s bike was not out. However he managed to take his place on the grid on Michael Rutter’s machine.
From the start Dean Harrison took the lead with Glenn Irwin right behind him. Richard Cooper made up the top three. The initial reports were of big speeds, probably in part due to strong winds that were driving along the back end of the course. Michael Dunlop passing the 209mph mark on the back straight.
Irwin took the lead from Dean Harrison following the slip stream effect with Cooper still in third by the end of the first lap.
As the second lap got underway a red flag ceased any further racing following at Church Corner.
The race was subsequently restarted as a full race distance 6 lap race.
Restart :
A full length restart got things back underway and Irwin took the lead from Dean Harrison and Storm Stacey in third, still on the Rutter machine.
Irwin pushed throughout the first lap, presumably to get as big a gap as possible but as they headed towards Mather’s Deano had started to close the gap.
Richard Cooper retired taking his bike off the circuit and down the slip road.
By the end of the second lap the top six or seven had all started to tighten up somewhat and Deano was going faster than Irwin.
The Ducati clearly had the pace on the Honda but on the differences at the halfway point the time deficit was a mere 0.12s.
A 212.4mph speed trap from Michael Dunlop matches the fastest ever on the triangle.
By the start of lap 4 Hicky was in fourth having passed Josh Brooks and was pressing to catch Storm Stacey who was 8s off the pace in third and by halfway through the lap he was up to third.
Just before University Deano managed to grab first for a second or two but Irwin was able to dart back up the inside and took the fastest lap of the race by 0.1s.
Dunlop took Hutchy to push into fourth as Storm Stacey appeared to be out towards the end of the fourth lap. (He did finish the race but was out of contention for the podium).
At the start of the fifth lap Deano took the lead from Irwin and the Honda was looking strong, however the slip stream and obvious excess power of the Ducati had Irwin back in front by the time they were back on the Coast Road.
Thankfully for this race the last lap flag was put out and the battles for the podium were Irwin and Harrison for 1/2 and Hicky and Dunlop for 3/4.
The last lap for the first two is like a game of chess, when do you go, hold off, go for it, when?!?
At the end it came to 0.181s between Irwin and Dean with Michael Dunlop taking third from Peter Hickman.
For the start of race 3 track temperature was up to 32 degrees. Which was really good considering the wind was strong and according to my weather app the ‘Feels Like’ figure was 3 degrees whilst the real world temperature was 9 degrees.
Almost as soon as the race started, at York Corner we had an incident which upset the front however Seeley was first off the line and remained so, with Michael Dunlop in second, Ian Hutchinson in third and Dean Harrison on fourth.
Richard Cooper matched the speed record of187mph at the speed trap.
By the first approach of the Coast Road, Michael Dunlop had took the lead with Dean Harrison now in second and Seeley in third, Ian Hutchinson in 4th, Cooper in 5th and Josh Brooks in 6th.
As lap 2 got underway a red flag brought the race to a stop.
The involved rider was reported as being ‘perfectly fine’ was Ian Hutchinson.
Restart :
Following the restart, Seeley got a perfect start and lead out of York Corner with Josh Brookes in second. However by the time the first slip steam was in play Dunlop was into first. A mistake from McWilliams saw him fall to rear of the first wave.
Dunlop and Seeley fought back and forth throughout the first lap taking positions from each other tie and time again. Paul Jordan was in third and Dean Harrison in fourth. Cooper was in fifth, Brookes in sixth. The top six all over each other as they entered into lap two.
Michael Dunlop seemed to get far enough ahead that the slipstream effect but it worked well for Dean Harrison who bounced into second. Richard Cooper and Paul Jordan came very close together at University and both ended up on the pavement which split the top group.
For the start of lap three the top three remained the same with Paul Jordan moving up to fourth, Cooper in fifth and Brookes into sixth.
As this lap progressed the dual between Cooper and Jordan continued with places being traded throughout. Seeley seemed to lose a little time and as things headed back towards Portrush Cooper had caught him and had taken third. Dunlop and Harrison had a gap of about 3 seconds as they took to the Coast Road.
Lap four started with Dean right on Michael’s tail, poised as if ready to pounce and at York Seeley was back up to third from Cooper, Jordan and Brookes were still snapping at their heels.
At Ballysalla Roundabout things had changed again and Jordan took Cooper on the roundabout resulting in a Dunlop, Harrison, Jordan, Cooper, Brookes, and Seeley.
The fourth lap saw a record fall with Dean Harrison taking it, lapping in 4mins31.938s.
At the start of the penultimate lap Harrison was 0.292s behind Dunlop, the remaining pack were at least 7 seconds off the pace.
At some point in this lap we lost Paul Jordan and Richard Cooper leaving Seeley and Brookes to battle for third.
As the Coast Road Section came into play the race was red flagged. Given the distance already run the race was declared as a result. First place going to Michael Dunlop, Dean Harrison taking second and the podium being completed with Josh Brookes in third.
It’s a real shame for Dean as it really looked like that game of chess was in play again and he was stalking Dunlop into the last lap, but, alas, still Dean Harrison is yet to win a race at the North West 200.
From the start line it was Richard Cooper and Storm Stacey into York Corner making up the first two. Ian Hutchinson was 3rd, Michael Dunlop was around 6th and into the first slip stream Storm Stacey took first place, but he ran on and sucked Richard Cooper into following him, both ended up in the grass. Storm Stacey was able to get himself back on track, but not Cooper. John McGuiness was up in fourth as the first lap finished. A course error from Michael Dunlop left him in 8th in a massive first lap that was hard to keep up with all the drama.
Josh Brookes hit 211mph at the speed trap. One single mph off the pace of a superbike.
As lap 2 progressed Michael Dunlop started to work his way back up the pack and Josh Brookes continued to snap at the heels of Dean Harrison with hardly any air between them. As the lap leaders were closing in on the Coast Road a red flag halted the race.
Restart :
The restarted Superstock race was reduced to 4 laps.
On the restart Storm Stacey took the lead from the off with Josh Brookes in second and Dean Harrison in third place. Despite the slipstream Storm managed to hold first through the Mather’s Chicane but by Magheraboy Chicane Josh Brookes had the lead.
On the Coast Road Storm Stacey had the lead back, Josh Brookes took the grass at Juniper Chicane, Dean was third, Michael Dunlop fourth, Ian Hutchinson fifth and John McGuiness made up the top six all within touching distance of each other.
Dean Harrison pulled up in the Chicane at Magheraboy and unfortunately had to retire the top three remaining the same and all within touching distance throughout lap 3. Hutchy was 4th at the halfway point, 3.504s off the pace and John McGuinness still holding onto fifth.
As lap 3 progressed Storm Stacey kept it pinned as Michael Dunlop and Brookes used the slipstream to bring the distance between the three to near touching distance and as things came back into Portrush Michael Dunlop took the lead which left Storm Stacey and Josh Brookes fighting back and forth as lap 4 commenced.
At York on the final lap Storm Stacey took first place back from Michael Dunlop, but MD took the lead back on the slipstream, the lead changing back and forth Josh Brookes observing everything from third, and as the race entered Portrush again Storm Stacey took the lead, a mistake from Michael Dunlop let Brookes through and Stacey stormed up the Coast Road and took the win, MD fought back and took second, Josh Brookes took third.
As he pulled into the winner’s enclosure the shout was, ‘Not bad for a novice eh?’
Great result and the first time a newcomer has won the Superstock since Bruce Anstey.
A scheduled four lap race for the second super twin race of the day.
From the start into York it was Hicky, Seeley, McWilliams and Jordan, but by the first slipstream it was McWilliams back in the lead from Hickman then Jordan with Jamie Coward taking fourth. As things made their way back to Portrush at the Magheraboy Chicane Paul Jordan took a bit of a detour over the grass doing really well to keep himself upright.
By the end of the first lap it was McWilliams, Hickman, Seeley, Jordan and Coward making up the top of the table with McWilliams having a decent gap between himself and Hicky and by the first slipstream zone along the back of the the course McWilliams had a 2.506s gap from Hicky, which pretty much makes the slipstream unobtainable.
As lap two came to a close the main battle had shifted to Hickman and Jordan with Paul Jordan taking second place as the race moved onto the Coast Road. Seeley remained within reach of the two ahead of him in fourth and as lap 3 started McWilliams had a 2.4s lead.
Lap three saw the dual between Paul Jordan and Peter Hickman continue as McWilliams extended his lead from the chasing two to 2.691s.
Onto the last lap and Hickman and Jordan had closed the gap to 1.4s and as they crossed the line McWilliams clipped, then rode along the kerb and somehow managed to keep things going, and as things reached York Corner Peter Hickman’s bike had some sort of problem and he retired on the road.
Past University and the gap had extended to more than 8 seconds effectively securing a McWilliams win and giving him the opportunity to put on a bit of a display as he approached the Coast Road. Wheelies and waves everywhere.
The podium was made up with Paul Jordan and Alastair Seeley. Jamie Coward finishing fourth.
A great result for McWilliams, happy crowds everywhere!
Charlie Boorman started proceedings for the final super bike race, track temperatures had dropped to 28 degrees. The sun was still shining, and the wind, the wind was definitely still blowing.
Glen Irwin got that all important hole shot but by the time things got to York Corner Storm Stacey went in full tilt pushing Irwin wide and taking the lead with Hutchy in second. As the chicanes came into play Dean Harrison had the lead, Stacey in second and following a bad York corner Irwin had managed to work his way back up to third.
At the end of the first lap it was Storm Stacey, Dean Harrison and Glen Irwin and at the Magic Roundabout Irwin was back up to third.
Peter Hickman matched the fasted ever speed at 212.4mph
The top of the table made up of Stacey, Irwin, Harrison, Brooks, Hickman, Hutchinson, Dunlop and McGuiness.
The top three having one amazing fight, so much so it was hard to keep up with.
Storm Stacey managed to hold the lead as lap three got underway, Deano and Irwin still fighting for the second place and then those slip streams came back into play and Stacey was back to third and Irwin in front, by the chicane thought it was back to Stacey in the lead, but as the Portrush Sector was approaching Dean Harrison was in front.
As the third lap was ending there seemed to be some sort of fluid on the track and for some reason Marhals were on the road as some sort of human cordon! Unbelievable.
As the top three reached the Magic Roundabout the red flag was out presumably for the oil spill marked by the human cordon.
The top of the field at that point was from fourth, Hickman, Josh Brooks in fifth, Ian Hutchinson, in sixth, John McGuinness in 7th, Mike Browne in 8th, Carl PHILLIPS in 9th and Michael Dunlop completing the Top 10.
Following the red flag a rerun of the race was declared over a 3 lap distance.
Restart :
Despite the efforts of the cleanup crew time was the enemy of the event and due to the road closuring order, Mervyn White stated that roads needed to open for 6:45pm so just before 6:40pm the event was closed.
As a result the race was declared a result with Storm Stacey taking the win.
History was made in the end with Storm Stacey coming as a newcomer, taking the Superstock win and then the main Superbike event ending the Irwin reign.
Congratulation to the new Champion, Storm ‘Lord’ Stacey.
