Mous Limitless 3.0 Case for iPhone 11 Pro Review

Disclosure : I purchased this Mous Limitless 3.0 iPhone 11 Pro Walnut Case direct from Mous.co the review is my own as are my thoughts on the product.

It is officially new iPhone season and this year we have three choices to go for, namely the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max.  Now two things have been agreed across the tech world.

  1. The naming of this generation of iPhone is absolutely shambolic.
  2. The camera setup is ground breaking.  Other phones have been there before the iPhone without doubt, but this year Apple have nailed it.  They have taken what others have tried, improved on it, then bettered it a little more and made it ‘just work’ – as they do.  If you aren’t aware I am referring to Night Mode.

I was never planning on upgrading my iPhone X I was more than happy to aim for and get a third year out it.  Then I made the mistake of watching some previews, reviews and the iPhone 11 keynote.  Needless to say I was walking into the Apple Store on 20th September 2019 to pick up my new iPhone 11 Pro 256 GB.

Halide Camera App – Alternative iOS Camera App : Review

Having recently been restricted to using only my iPhone at a couple of motorcycle road races I found the native iOS Camera App lacking. Thankfully I found the Halide Camera App.

Until this point I had tried a few iOS Camera apps but always found myself going back to the original iOS Camera. ‘It just worked.’ It was handy, wasn’t full of fluff – a proper point and shoot experience, which to be fair is probably what 99% of camera phone users need 99% of the time.

Generally for motorcycle racing events I would have used my Panasonic TZ80 or Cannon DSLR – the ability for a fast shutter is obvious when motorcycles scream past you at speeds I could only guess.

For reasons outside of my control I found myself at the 2019 Cookstown 100, and 2019 Tandragee 100 road races with only my iPhone X. It was instantly apparent that the native iOS app was not going to produce images that were in anyway usable for me – I should be more specific – the native iOS was not going to produce images of the racing and moving motorcycles that were in anyway usable.

Change your PSN Username (PS4)

Today, finally you can now change your PSN (PS4) username.  So for all of us gamers that have been rocking a username that we have had from our youth we can now mature it up a touch.

However, be warned, it all isn’t good news.  The first change is free, but subsequent changes will cost you.

A PSN+ Member will be charged £3.99 for each change after the first.

A Non-PSN+ Member will be charged £7.99 for each change after the first.

Not only that, the changes will only work on PS4 :

PS3, PS Vita and PS/TV games and apps do not support the online ID change feature

Then the really bad news.  Some games will simply not play nicely with username changes – a few of particular note are Grand Theft Auto V, Little Big Planet 3 and Just Dance 2017.

“All PS4 games originally published on or after April 1, 2018 have been developed to support the online ID change feature. However, since they have not all been specifically tested with the feature, we cannot guarantee that they will support it. For more details and information, we encourage you to refer to the list of tested games before making a change to your online ID. Do keep in mind that the large majority of most actively played PS4 games support the feature.”

Before you change anything you really should have a look at this post from Sony which details all known issues, ranging from minor to ‘critical.’  Eek!

Warning…Warning…Warning

Some of the issues that can arise include losing “progress within games, including game saved data, leaderboard data, and progress towards Trophies”, your previous Online ID remaining visible to you and other players, parts of games not functioning properly “both online and offline”.

Sony says that you also “may lose access to content (including paid-for content) that you may have acquired for your games including content like add-ons and virtual currency”.

However, the company claims that that reverting back to your old ID should resolve most issues that arise.

You can finally use the Apple Watch Series 4 ECG tracker in the UK :

Maybe after reading my review on the March 25 2019 Keynote Speech and how it was pretty much pointless for the UK, Apple have went a long way in my eyes of winning the UK back into the Fold.

The ECG App has been available in the US since December 2018, and today Apple have pushed out the App to the UK and Europe – woop woop!

Now, as a result of Apple gaining a CE mark for the ECG app and irregular rhythm notifications, a certificate applied to products intended for sale in the European Economic Area, UK users should be able to do the same. It also marks the latest move in the technology company’s increasing interest in health apps and data. As you can now find quality heart rate sensors in a vast array of wearables, the inclusion of a proper ECG is a key differentiator for Apple’s smartwatch, though even here others are offering now similar tech (most recently Withings’s Move entered the ECG space, for example).

This really is amazing news for UK Apple Watch wearers and leaves me in a horrible position!  I was just about to pull the plug on a pair of AirPods – but now I totally want to upgrade from my Series 2 Apple Watch.

It’ll probably have to be the latter!  Cue a trip to the Apple Store tomorrow!

The good news for early adopters of the wearable is that the watchOS update will also allow those with older generation Apple Watches not sporting the new sensors to identify signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition identified by a rapid or irregular heartbeat that can lead to heart complications. The feature is available in 19 European countries, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain, as well as here in the UK.

Go to the Watch App on your iPhone to get the update now.  Like right now!

Download All Your Photobucket Images / Galleries (Mac Solution)

If like me Photobucket (I won’t even link to the trash) has shafted you by deciding to effectively take ownership of your photographs and content – and break who knows how many of your internet links, whether they be on social media, blogs, albums from yesteryear – we are running out of time until their next shafting!

It is a long story behind this saga but it can basically be summed up as follows – of course this is just my opinion – but here goes…

The Photobucket Story So Far:

  1.  Photobucket Got Greedy.
  2. Photobucket froze millions of users out of their accounts – then decided to charge extortionate prices to let people back in.  In the region of $400 a year to be a Premium member!  Or if you didn’t want to be Premium you could pay $99 / year to be ‘allowed’ to link to your own photos elsewhere – such as on this blog!  The result was the internet became flooded with this image :

  3. The internet obviously reacted with fury as billions of images had just been effectively deleted.  Well established forums lost years of valuable photos and posts – imagine a Tutorial on a car site with no photos – that is the reality!  Only that car site with the tutorial – was actually millions of sites and millions of tutorials, threads, content that could never be replaced.  Original Posters (OPs) abandoned threads, abandoned writing content, it was a disaster for many really decent sites – all Photobuckets fault.
  4. Photobucket reacted – they allowed the ‘hotlinking’ of images again – and the internet got its content back – but honestly the damage was done.  There was a caveat though – the images were only back temporarily.  The Photobucket fat cats decided to give users a ‘grace period’ to get their accounts in order and more importantly pay up!

  5. If you didn’t pay up you went to a free account – which they claim to be approximately 250 images.

To be fair – at those prices I would have paid.  But the disgraceful, underhanded behaviour displayed by Photobucket means I never will!
