One of the most divisive things on race week is the TT Zero – are they ‘real’ bikes? Is a TT Zero win a ‘real’ win? Of course they are real bikes, of course it is a real win. Yes at the moment it is only one lap but the race distance is equivalent to a full race at Tandragee, Cookstown, Armoy, even the NW200 so of course it is a ‘real’ win. I don’t know how or when this attitude will change, maybe in about 6 years when these bikes are lapping at 133 – 134mph. Mark my words it’s going to happen – hopefully with Bruce Anstey as the pilot. Today however the congratulations go to Michael Rutter for a sound real TT win on the real bike – the Mugen!

2018 Isle of Man TT Results : RL360 Superstock Race 04/06/2018 :
In a hotly contested superstock race Peter Hickman got his first top step podium Isle of Man TT win beating Michael Dunlop by approximately 4.5 seconds with a best lap and new Superstock record of 134.403 mph – no that is not a misprint, and no that was not on a superbike! Amazing stuff from Hicky on his Smiths Racing BMW!

Adam Lyon killed at the Isle of Man TT Races on 04/06/2018
ACU Events Ltd regrets to confirm that Adam Lyon, 26, from Helensburgh in Scotland was killed in an incident during the Supersport 1 Race today at the Isle of Man TT Races. The accident occurred at Casey’s, just after the 28th mile of the course, on the 3rd lap of the race.
Adam was a newcomer to the TT this year. He qualified in 24th place for today’s race with a fastest lap of 122.261 which he improved to 122.636mph on the opening lap of today’s race. His fastest lap of the TT course – 123.443 – was in Friday’s Superbike qualifying session.
Adam lapped at 122.499 as a newcomer at the Ulster Grand Prix in 2017, finishing 11thin the second Supersport race. He finished sixth in the 2010 Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship with podiums at Croft and Silverstone.
ACU Events Ltd wishes to pass on their deepest sympathy to Adam’s family and friends.
After a glorious and incident free Thursday night Saturday Race Day had a lot to live up to!
It did live up to it and then some!
With a reported 120,000 visitors to Northern Ireland’s North Coast the sun came, it was scorching – the crowds came – they were loving it – and the racing came – with the world’s best road racers putting on a show the like the North West hadn’t seen for years.
It was a true spectacle, road racing at its finest and – incident free. Only one red flag, new comer Nadieh Schoots came off at University and thankfully only suffered a badly bruised leg.
This was exactly what the NW200 needed after a few less that perfect years and was a real testament to everyone involved coupled with a little luck (weather) – but we all need a little luck sometimes!

Thursday night’s racing was sun-kissed, fast, contested and incident free. A superb night on Northern Ireland’s North Coast and I am happy to bring you a full gallery covering all the action from the evening’s three races. It was the perfect set up for the 2018 NW200 Race Day Saturday…
