Trouble Installing Kodi on the Amazon Fire Stick?

If you are one of the many peolple experiencing issues installing Kodi on the Fire Stick at the moment when using ES File Explorer, I am here to sort your woes out straight away, and quickly.

(This seems to be happening when people are upgrading their Kodi to the new 16.1 – it is nothing to do with the upgrade so don’t be worrying about that, it is just how ES File Explorer or Amazon (more likely) are now dealing with the requests to download via their software).

I am presuming that you have got as far as the Kodi Download page, but when you are clicking on the ARM link nothing is happening, right?

So here’s what you do to get going back on your merry way…

Click on the link once, it doesn’t matter if you click more than once, all you will notice is a spinning arrow in the top right corner of the screen for a spilt second.
Now move your cursor down to the bottom right of the screen where you will see three vertical dots. Select them and click.

Now you will have an option to ‘Open’ or something very similar.
Click that and continue on installing Kodi!
Sit back, watch and enjoy!

Photography : What do focal lengths mean? Focal Length v Zoom?

Today I found this great little image which I feel I really must share.

It explains focal length and what different camera lenses see. For me me this was quite tricky to get my head round but it was explained perfectly to me in the following way.

Our eyes see things, in focus, with a lens equivalent of 50mm (and an approximate field of view of 50 degrees – the mm focal length of the lens and degree of field of view although the same are not related). Our peripheral vision picks up more (a lens equivalent of about 10mm), but the actual in focus part of the world we see is captured at an equivalent of 50mm.

The following images shows what each lens will capture in relation to what we see…

This is our view of a beach. It incorporates about 130 degrees of a field of view and represents our entire vision (although in reality the periphery will not be as focused.)

“This copy of the Install OS X Mavericks application can’t be verified” FIX

Just a quickie fix here.

If you are experiencing the above error whilst trying to do a fresh install of OS X Mavericks (from a USB stick) there is a good chance all you need to do is change the date that your machine believes it to be.

So for example it is now 17.15 hrs on 15th March 2014.

To fix this error go to the ‘Utilities’ Menu and run ‘Terminal’ (from within the Mavericks’ installer).

Once in terminal enter the date as follows (of course making it the correct current date and time, this simply illustrates the format)…

date 031517152014

Press Enter.

Now close ‘Terminal’ and attempt the fresh install.

Things should now go your way!

Acer Aspire One D257 RAM Upgrade

The Acer Aspire One D257 is a capable netbook, but one of the choke points of the system is that it is supplied with 1Gb of RAM, this can be easily upgraded by the user to a maximum of 2Gb and this is one upgrade that I reccommend all users consider.

It is a fairly simple process that can be done without any issues by taking your time and being careful. It isn’t like your desktop where the RAM upgrade is almost foolproof, here you will need to undone some very delicate clips and leads, my best advice is :

1. Take your time.

2. Don’t force anything, if it is isn’t going, it won’t go.

Then my next bit of advice is watch this video, it isn’t mine, but I used it and it is very good and well explained :

iPhone Mail Message Stuck in Outbox – An Easy Solution…

This happened to me today, so I thought I would share the easiest solution ever to sorting this problem out. Basically an email message was stuck for whatever reason in my Out Box on my iPhone(5) (running iOS6). It was stuck all day and as the battery has enough issues in lasting the day this really didn’t help. So if like me you were puzzled as to how to resolve this, (because as it is trying to send you can’t click on ‘Edit’ and subsequently delete the email) here is the solution.

1. Go to ‘Settings’
2. Put the phone into ‘Airplane Mode’
3. Go to ‘Mail’
4. Go to your ‘Out Box’
5. Click ‘Edit’
6. Delete the problem message.
7. Go to ‘Settings’
8. Turn off ‘Airplane Mode’
9. Continue with an enjoyable stress free day!
