No Insurance for Irish Road Racing in 2023 :
An MCI Directors meeting was held on Thursday 18th May 2023.
The affordability of insurance was discussed as part of the agenda. On the agenda was the financial viability of a recent quote. It was determined that this quote was not viable.
There will officially be no insurance cover for 2023.
An EGM will be held in 21 days.
Since the making of this announcement the Irish clubs have now all confirmed that their respective events have been cancelled for 2023.
The Kells Club have confirmed that there will be no 2023 Kells Road Races.
The Loughshinny Club have confirmed that there will be no 2023 Skerries 100.
This event had been rescheduled for September 2023. It has now been completely cancelled.
The Fore Club have announced that there will be no 2023 Walderstown Road Races.
“As most will have already seen statements from other clubs in the South, We, Fore club unfortunately have to announce the cancellation of our road races the walderstown road races for 2023 due to the high cost of insurance quote the governing body MCI has received.
This is unfortunate and we are saddened that we are unable run what would have been the 50th anniversary of the Race of the South..
We as a club are hoping to mark the date in some way nearer the race weekend.

The Faugheen Club have announced that there will be no 2023 Faugheen 50 Raoad Races.
The Munster Club have announced that there will be no 2023 Munster 100 Road Races.
The Athea Club have announced that there will be no 2023 Athea Road Races (South West Road Racing).

The only remaining road racing event for 2023 are the Armoy Road Races.
