History :
Armoy (from the Irish: Oirthear Maí meaning “the east plain”) is a small village in County Antrim Northern Ireland. It is 6 miles from Ballycastle and 9 miles from Ballymoney and nestles under the shadow of Knocklayd mountain. It is on the River Bush and lies within the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area. The village is situated between two of the nine Glens of Antrim, Glenshesk and Glentaisie. Glenshesk is part of the Armoy Race Circuit.

“Road racing and the Armoy Armada was a regular topic of conversation in the Armoy pub and it was on one such night in what started off as a bit of craic and a £20 bet, that Kathleen Hartin was sparked into the idea of a tribute race to the Legends of Road Racing.
…All the affiliations, constitutions, rules, agencies, roads departments and councils eventually succumbed to the objectives of the club and when finance was secured through local sponsorship and funding, the first ever Armoy Road Race – Race of Legends was run in July 2009.”

Do You Need a Ticket to Watch the Armoy Road Races?
No, spectators are not charged to watch the Armoy Road Races, there are a number of locations outside the road closing order from which spectators can view the Armoy races without purchasing a race package in support of the Armoy Road Races. The locations of Main Street, Hillside Road, Magheramore Road, Glenshesk Road and Coolkeeran Road leading into Armoy are readily accessible until the road closing order barriers are reached. Please be aware however that viewing will be limited in these areas.
No spectators are permitted Trackside, on Private property or In Prohibited areas.
Areas with the Zone for the Spectator Pass do require a ticket : The race area within the Road Closing Order (known as the Armoy circuit) and the privately owned, zoned parking/viewing areas within the order are under the control of the club and as such, there will be ‘Supporters Packages’ offered for sale in support of the Armoy event in return for an event lanyard, programme and a pass to gain entry into one of the privately owned, zoned areas which have been agreed with landowners to provide you with parking and enhanced viewing of the event.
Armoy Road Races Circuit :
The Armoy Race Circuit is 3.03 miles long and Triangular in shape. It is ridden in an anti-clockwise direction. The Grid is set up in a Grand Prix style, with 3 groups of nine riders up to a maximum of 27 riders starting each race. Hillside Road, Glenshesk Road and Lagge Road often used by the Armoy Armada to test their bikes on, are still the same roads used today for the Official Armoy Road Races.

Armoy Road Races Bike / Car Parking :
As outlined above in the ‘Tickets’ Section numerous colour coded official car parks are available.
Numerous other carparks are available on practice and race days. These are often for charity and given the changing nature of these it is impossible to list them and keep the list up to date. They will often be in pre existing carparks, such as Churches and local businesses. However all will be well sign posted and will display where funds received go.

2026 Armoy Road Races Entertainment :
Sunday 19th July 2026 : Annual Ride Out and Barbecue : Always one of the most popular events of race week, our annual Ride Out & Barbecue returns on Sunday 19th July.
Riders will meet from 10:00am at the Armoy Club Office, Main Street, Armoy to sign on, before leaving at 10:30am sharp.
The run this year heads to Ballymoney, where we will stop for a quick tour of the motorbike show in the Town Hall before heading onto Aghadowey, through Ringends and on to Limavady where we’ll stop for fuel and a small break. Onwards to Magilligan and Downhill, Castlerock, down into Coleraine along to Portrush where again we’ll have a break and gather up before heading home along the Coast road to Bushmills, Ballycastle and finally the paddock at Armoy for our now traditional BBQ which will be held in the Armoy Race Paddock Barn.

Sunday 19th July 2026 : Church Service : There will be a “Race Week Church Service” in Armoy Presbyterian, at 6:30pm on Sunday 19th July, conducted by the club Chaplain, Rev Gary Glasgow. The service is open to everyone, and it will be informal, with familiar hymns and a devotional address. There is no dress code, and if anyone is on two wheels, they can attend in their biking gear. It’s an opportunity to worship God right at the start of what will be a full and enjoyable week.
Armoy Presbyterian church is located on the outskirts of the village at the T Junction of Drones Road and Gracehill Road.
Wednesday 22nd July 2026 : Classic Car Display : Another great evening in Armoy Road Races Week as the Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club visits the village for the always-popular Classic Car Display.
The cars will gather from 6:00pm in Station Road Carpark, right in the centre of Armoy village.
Expect a brilliant mix of classic, rare and collectable cars, along with a few vehicles that are just that wee bit different! It’s always a fantastic evening with plenty to admire, great craic, and a real community atmosphere.
As the night draws to a close, the classics will take a few laps of the Armoy circuit — always a lovely spectacle to see.
Come along, enjoy the evening, and soak up the atmosphere in the village.
Thursday 23rd July 2026 : Classic Bike Display : O’kane Motors, Armoy, welcomes the Coleraine Motorcycle Club & the Japanese Vintage Club in putting on a display of bikes from our racing past. Bikes will be on show outside Tilly Molloy’s in Armoy village from 6.00 pm. Another great night of village craic with a bit of nostalgia and the whiff of burning oil as the bikes leave for a few laps of the Armoy circuit around 7.30pm.
Friday 24th July 2026 : Practice and Qualifying Followed by Two Races : Roads are CLOSED on Friday 24th July from 10.00 am to allow for race practice and grid qualification.
The schedule includes running Supertwin 1 Race, followed by the Supersport 1 Race to race after practice (around 6.30pm) early Friday evening.
Roads are scheduled to reopen no later than 9.30pm.
Saturday 26th July 2026 : Race Day and the Bayview Hotel Race of Legends Finale : Roads are CLOSED on Saturday from 9.00am
We are scheduled for 12 races and all culminating in the feature race, the Bayview Hotel Race of Legends.
