The Irish Road Racing Season is officially back! The 2019 season is, as is customary, kicked off with the Cookstown 100. Today is the dominated by Practice and Qualifying and a few races to wrap the night up.
Qualifying has just finished so here are all the results and timings that will set things up for tomorrow’s race day!

The 2019 Isle of Man TT is quickly approaching and it is now only a couple of months of away.
The TT Races are often described as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ – which then leads to the question ‘how much does this greatest show pay its winners?’
Since 2017 I have been asking and answering this question on this blog – each year I manage to gather a little more information to pass around and this year is no different.
But one of the most discussed topics is how much do these guys / girls get for winning the TT? You might be surprised, but one thing that is very important; for the majority – if not all the competitiors – it isn’t about the cash – it’s about the prestige.

Guy Martin has entered this year’s KDM Hire Cookstown 100 which is running on the 26th and 27th April 2019.
The Grimsby rider was set to compete at the 2018 event before mechanical issues with his BSA Rocket unfortunately sidelined him. Back then he promised to return and this year will uphold that promise and is set to contest this year’s classic race on that same machine.

Guy Martin : ‘I’ve not given up on racing or road racing, there’s unfinished business and I want to race classics and odd ball stuff.’
Guy Martin has had previous success at Cookstown, taking his Tyco BMW Superbike to the win in 2015 and his attendance in 2019 will certainly attract his fans to the Cookstown event.

The 2019 Premier League of Darts lineup has been announced.
As is now the tradition, at the end of the World Championship of Darts, Barry Hearn gets a little extra TV face time to announce the lineup for the upcoming Premier League of Darts. Here it is :

So two new faces, Michael Smith, the World Championship finalist gets a well deserved spot after an epic showing in the ‘Worlds’ and James Wade returns to the Premier League, hopefully in a better place than he was towards the end of his world championship.
Thankfully we will get to see Barney in the Premier League for one final season before his planned retirement, as he picks up a Sky TV wildcard for the Tournament.
Hopefully Price will modify his behaviour this year, because to be honest, I quite like the guy. Check him out on Twitter – he seems a decent lad off the stage, but on the stage, in front of the cameras he is just too hard to stomach, getting on like a truly magical sac. Thank goodness for Sky Plus and the Fast Forward button!
All in all though the lineup looks good, and will hopefully lead to some great Thursday night viewing.

The 2018 road racing season officially ends at the Macau Grand Prix. With bikes, supercars and race cars all battling (of course not at the same time) on one of the most extreme and dangerous circuits on the planet.

Following the success of the 2018 MGP races, the organisers, The Manx Motor Cycle Club, will retain the same programme for 2019.This will see things kick off with the Newcomers’ race on bank holiday Monday 26th August 2019.
Wednesday of race week will see the Junior MGP Race with thefirst of the two Lightweight/Ultra-lightweight races in the afternoon. Friday features the second Lightweight/Ultra-lightweight races in the morning, followed by the grand finale of the Senior MGP Race bringing the event to a close in the afternoon.
Once again, the Lightweight race will feature the popular 650cc twin cylinder machines, and the Ultra-lightweight race, the 400cc, 125cc and Moto 3 bikes.
The club has decided to buck the trend and retain the class for 400 and 125cc bikes at a time when many race organisers have dropped the category.
Manx Motor Cycle Club chairman, Peter Maddocks said: ‘We felt it was appropriate for us to retain the smaller capacity class as it offers an opportunity for younger new riders to enter the event and get them interested in competing on the Mountain Course.’

Practices for the 2019 Manx Grand Prix start on Saturday, August 17th and the event finishes with the Senior race on Friday, August 30th.
Southern 100 Racing, organisers of the Isle of Man Steam PacketCompany Southern 100 International Road Races are to make anumber of changes to their racing classes for the 2019 event whichtakes place Monday to Thursday 8th – 11th July.
The main change is the dropping of the ‘Ultra-Lightweight’ 125cc/400cc class from the programme along with the discontinuationof the Support races.
However, with the increasing number of entries being received for600cc machines, the organisers are to include an additional race forthis class.
