The 2019 Isle of Man TT is quickly approaching and it is now only a couple of months of away.
The TT Races are often described as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’ – which then leads to the question ‘how much does this greatest show pay its winners?’
Since 2017 I have been asking and answering this question on this blog – each year I manage to gather a little more information to pass around and this year is no different.
But one of the most discussed topics is how much do these guys / girls get for winning the TT? You might be surprised, but one thing that is very important; for the majority – if not all the competitiors – it isn’t about the cash – it’s about the prestige.
This year I bring you everything – it all – every bit of information made available to the competitors in the Regulations Handbook.

Guy Martin is Set for the 2019 Cookstown 100
GUY MARTIN ENTERS 2019 KDM HIRE COOKSTOWN 100 :
Guy Martin has entered this year’s KDM Hire Cookstown 100 which is running on the 26th and 27th April 2019.
The Grimsby rider was set to compete at the 2018 event before mechanical issues with his BSA Rocket unfortunately sidelined him. Back then he promised to return and this year will uphold that promise and is set to contest this year’s classic race on that same machine.
Guy Martin : ‘I’ve not given up on racing or road racing, there’s unfinished business and I want to race classics and odd ball stuff.’
Guy Martin has had previous success at Cookstown, taking his Tyco BMW Superbike to the win in 2015 and his attendance in 2019 will certainly attract his fans to the Cookstown event.

It’s better late than never, and this whole video editing lark is a lot harder and more time consuming that I initially would have anticipated, however after far too long a wait here is the footage from Day 1.
I literally had to trawl through hours of footage but the fact that it is over a year old is pretty irrelevant, the route itself is still very much there, it took 10,000s of years to for the earth to make the coast, hopefully it has millions more years left for us to enjoy, so once again apologies it took so long, and apologies for the fact I am a supreme novice when it comes to video editing, however hopefully you can enjoy the scenery, (and the soundtrack) and maybe even be inspired to pop over to Ireland to experience this epic route!

Venue: From Donegall Quay, Belfast to Queen’s Road, BelfastObjects along the stretch known as Maritime Mile in Belfast are ‘waking up’, and anyone with a mobile phone can strike up a conversation and hear what they have to say!
Starting at the Big Fish at Donegall Quay, people will be able to interact by text with a range of well-known maritime landmarks, finishing at the HMS Caroline at Alexandra Dock. Key ‘objects’ include:

‘Hello Maritime Mile’ is a pilot ‘Smart Cities’ project between Belfast City Council, Titanic Foundation, Tourism NI, Ulster University and Hello Lamp Post. It will run for six weeks until St Patrick’s Day (17 March). See our St Patrick’s Day events.

NI Motorcycle Festival 2019
The NI Motorcycle Festival returns this weekend (8th – 10th February 2019) to the Eikon Centre, Lisburn. In it’s fourth year at the Eikon it is touting itself as Northern Irelands’ Biggest Motorcycle Show and it promises a weekend full of action and bikes.
So what has changed from last year and does it deliver on these promises?

Truth be told, very little has changed. It is still like a big showroom, with a load of stalls in the back.
As you can see in my previous 2018 review I tried my best to find the positives in the show and to be honest I really hate being negative about such things – especially things that involve bikes, a show – and Northern Ireland trying to bring itself on par with events and exhibitions, but sometimes – when there is negativity it just shines through in the truth.
I am not going to paint this one through rose tinted glasses – I hoped things would have improved but alas here it is – the NI Motorcycle Festival 2019 Review.
2019 Isle of Man TT Schedule : Practice and Race Programme (UPDATED 31/05/2019)
THE ISLE OF MAN TT RACES 2019 :
Important Update : 31st May 2019 : Inclement weather continues to torture this year’s practice and qualifying sessions. Seven days in and we have only had bikes on the course on Sunday and Tuesday. Double practice sessions were scheduled for Thursday, the weather resulted in both being cancelled. Now Friday’s double session is postponed and we will not see bikes on the track until at least 3pm (15:00 local time).
The resulting knockoffs will now certainly affect race week. The racing on Saturday 1st June 2019 has been replaced with a qualifying / practice schedule and Sunday may be the first race day. It could be a very busy week ahead.

Important Update : 27th May 2019 : Inclement weather is playing havoc with the planned sessions. Saturday has been rescheduled to Sunday, now Monday’s session will be held on Tuesday.

2019 will see the return to the Mountain Course of the 2018 record breakers: Dean Harrison and Peter Hickman. In perfect conditions they pushed the lap record to over 134mph and finally to 135.452mph – making the Isle of Man TT the fastest road race on the planet. Can they go faster in 2019? Can John McGuinness, Michael Dunlop or Ian Hutchinson handle their pace? With the countdown underway, the answers draw closer!
