Richard Cooper initiated the day’s action with a commanding victory in the Supertwin opener. Riding the Jack Reid Cars Kawasaki, Cooper maintained a consistent pace to fend off Adam McLean’s Yamaha by a mere 0.280 seconds. Veteran Jeremy McWilliams secured third on his Aprilia, while Michael Sweeney completed the top four.

Portrush, Northern Ireland – May 8th, 2025 – The iconic North West 200 roared back to life today under sun-kissed skies, treating thousands of expectant fans lining the famous Triangle circuit to a spectacular evening of road racing.
Thursday’s three-race schedule delivered high drama, blistering speeds, and emotional victories, setting an electrifying tone for the weekend ahead.
Michael Dunlop sensationally marked his return to the top step with a stunning double, while Davey Todd etched his name into NW200 folklore with a maiden Superbike win.
The atmosphere was palpable as bikes thundered off the line for the opening encounters of the 2025 Briggs Equipment North West 200, and the action did not disappoint.
Race 1: Todd Claims Maiden Premier Class Glory in Milwaukee Superbike Thriller
The evening kicked off with the much-anticipated 4-lap Milwaukee Superbike Race, and it was Davey Todd who sensationally seized his first-ever North West 200 Superbike victory. The BMW rider was in imperious form, mastering the high-speed straights and technical chicanes to the delight of the crowd.
It was a hard-fought battle, with Todd holding off intense pressure throughout.
Dean Harrison, mounted on the Honda Racing UK machine, was a constant threat, pushing Todd all the way to the chequered flag and finishing a mere 0.215 seconds adrift.
Peter Hickman, Todd’s esteemed teammate, secured a strong third place, making it a memorable outing for the BMW contingent.
Michael Dunlop, despite a challenging qualifying session earlier in the day, brought his MD Hawk Racing BMW home in a solid fourth.

Almost immediately after OMG Racing announced they will not be competent in this year’s BSB Championship WTF have announced they will be be partaking in their planned 2025 Roads Campaign.

WTF Racing has today announced the immediate cessation of all road racing activities due to significant commercial circumstances beyond the team’s control.
MLav Racing will expand its presence into road racing for the 2025 season.
During MotoGP Free Practice One at the Argentine Grand Prix, it was unofficially announced that Michael Laverty will enter his MLav Racing team into the 2025 Isle of Man TT and North West 200.
An official announcement is expected in a few weeks, but Neil Hodgson made the announcement live on air.
Laverty will utilise BMW machinery during the two road racing events and the machines will be ridden by TT Royalty in the form of Ian Hutchinson alongside Mike Browne.
“We are forming a team for the Isle of Man TT and the North West 200 this year,” Laverty stated on TNT Sports.
“We will have a few accomplished riders on board… Ian Hutchinson and Irish rider Mike Browne. We will hopefully be officially announcing it in the next week or so.
“We will be operating BMW-powered machinery. I am currently finalising the livery, with a deadline today for RST to produce the suits in time for testing.
“Ian Hutchinson has 17 Isle of Man TT victories to his name, with his most recent triumph occurring in 2017 during the Superstock TT. The 45-year-old made his return to the TT in 2024 after missing the event in 2023 due to a stroke.
Mike Browne has quickly established himself as a rising star at the TT. The Irish rider made his debut at the event in 2019 and has since competed in 14 TTs, securing two podium finishes, both in the Supertwin TT.”
The most successful North West 200 racer of all-time, Alastair Seeley #AS34 will return to action at the 2025 Briggs Equipment sponsored races on May 5-10 on a SMS/ Nicholl Oils Racing M1000RR BMW.
The Carrickfergus racer sat out last year’s event after failing to secure competitive machinery for the north coast event but the 45 year old now has his sights set on achieving a landmark 30th race win from this year’s two Superstock and three Superbike races aroundthe 8.9 mile Triangle course.
‘The main thing for me is that I am coming back on what I feel will be a competitive machine.’ Seeley explained during the north coast event’s launch in Belfast.
Seeley is already familiar with the BMW having steered the same bike to victory in Synetiq livery during both the Briggs Equipment and CP Hire Superstock races at Portrush in 2023. He also finished third overall on the M1000RR in that year’s British Superstock series before the BMW was used by teammate, David Allingham during last season’s Superstock series.
‘It is my old bike and I expect it to be competitive at the North West.’ Seeley smiled.
It has been confirmed via a Press Release that Josh Brookes will ride at the 2025 North West 200 Road Races alongside Jackson Racing.
JOSH BROOKES RETURNS TO ACTION AT 2025 BRIGGS EQUIPMENT NORTH WEST 200 WITH JACKSON RACING HONDA
Josh Brookes, a former double British Superbike champion and an outright lap record holder around the 8.9 mile Triangle course, will return to Portrush with the Jackson Racing Prosper2 team during this year’s Briggs Equipment North West 200 race week on May 5-10.
The 41 year old Australian will compete alongside Northern Ireland’s Paul Jordan on Superbike, Superstock and Supersport-spec Hondas prepared by Alan Jackson’s Preston-based squad.
Paul Jordan enjoyed a run of top six finishes on the Jackson Racing machines in the Merrow Hotel and Spa Superbike race, CP Hire Superstock event, Tides Restaurant and Fraser Homes Supersport races at last year’s North West.
‘We want to build on that success.’ the team principal said.
The NW200 have confirmed in a social media post that FHO Racing will return to the 2025 North West 200.
Following a two year absence, the FHO Racing BMW team will compete at the 2025 Briggs Equipment North West 200 with Peter Hickman and new signing, Davey Todd aboard M1000RR BMWs in the Superbike and Superstock races during May 5-10 Race Week.
‘Having missed the last two years, I am happy to say FHO Racing will be participating in the 2025 North West 200 with my two rider line-up.’ team owner, Faye Ho said.
‘I am very much looking forward to coming back and putting on a good show for everyone and it will be great to see all of the team’s fans again. Hope to see you all in 2025!’
A delighted NW200 Race Director, Mervyn Whyte, agreed the deal during November’s Macau Grand Prix, ensuring one of the principal race teams and two of the leading riders in the British Superbike championship will be on the grid at Portrush in May.
‘Davey Todd won this year’s British Superstock championship and moves up to the Superbike series for 2025 where he is joining Peter Hickman.’ Whyte said.
‘Both Davey and Peter are leading contenders on the roads and tracks and the FHO Racing BMWs have a well-established pedigree of success so this is very exciting news for North West 200 fans.’
Hickman won the JM Paterson and Milltown Service Station Supertwin races at last year’s NW200 and Todd claimed a brilliant hat-trick in the CP Hire and Amici Ristorante Superstock events plus the Tides Restaurant Supersport race.
