G-Shock GW300B UnBoxing and Initial Thoughts…

So I have had this watch for a while now, picking it up whilst on holidays in Florida, for an amazing price, which I’m going to keep as a secret! But the same watch retails here for the equivalent £250GBP.

You may recognise this watch as it currently one of Casio G-Shock’s Poster Models, and with just a quick look it is easy to see why it is so desirable! Just look at it, it is a stunning watch!

Casio knew what they were doing whilst marketing this watch…Put a jet on it, people will want it! Damn straight!

G-Shock Aviation GW3000

The added information from Casio below will tell you of the features and functions of this watch, but here are my real world points in relation to every day wearing :

1. Comfortable – I have big wrists and it fits well.
2. Big but not massive. I thought this may be a bad point for me, however it isn’t. I usually wear large faced watches, the GA-100 and GX-56 are usually found wrapped around my wrist. This watch is noticeably smaller when being worn than both, however its depth somehow beefs it up and after a couple of minutes I had fully accepted it. Instead of saying smaller, I will say neater.

Otterbox Armor Unboxing / Water Test and Initial Thoughts…

With my upcoming trip to Florida now only mere hours away the Postman arrived at about 9.00am with the package I was waiting on…An Otterbox Armor.

Now these cases are not cheap coming in at around £70 – £75 (or $100) however the claims they boast are definitely worth looking into!

1. Crush resistance of up to 2 tonns (1.8 tonnes) of pressure.

2. Dirt / Dust Proof

3. Drop Proof (10ft / 3m)

4. Water Proof (6.6ft / 2m for 30 mins)

GoPro HD Hero 3 Wasabi Battery Pack – UnBoxing

With a little trip quickly approaching and the potential for some great footage to be captured I decided that an addition battery for my GoPro HD Hero 3 was a requirement.

It is no secret that the battery on the GoPro isn’t going to last anyone all day, in fact I reckon that the original battery will last for approximately an hour of filming. (Set at 1080p at 60fps at WIDE with PROTUNE turned OFF).

I also have a battery bacpac (from a Hero 2) that gives me another hour or so at the same settings.

Even still I wanted more, and after a little research and I noted that a battery by a company called ‘Wasabi’ was getting great reviews. So this is the option I have went for.

For £29.99 from Amazon.co.uk (which is the same price as an official GoPro Battery) you get the following :

2 x 3.7V, 1200mAh, 4.4Wh ‘Wasabi’ GoPro HD Hero 3 compatible batteries.

(The Official battery is rated at 3.7V, 1035mAh, 3.885Wh – so on paper the ‘Wasabi’ contains more juice, so should keep you going a little longer – in theory at least).

Griffin Survivor iPhone 5 Case – Orange Unboxing Genuine / Fake?

This post was meant for a while ago but somehow it slipped through my updating net!

Basically as an already huge fan of the Griffin Survivor Case I ordered a new one this time deciding to move away from my usual black and went for the orange variant, after of course checking that there was an orange variant. Which there is.

I ordered from a reputable place but like with everything now the fakes and counterfeits are getting through, however it is bad when the actual genuine companies are unable to tell the fakes from the genuine items!

Here is the unboxing gallery :

MacBook Pro SSD (Solid State Drive) Install Guide

If you ask anyone in relation to current recommended upgrades for their machines the most highly recommended and common answer will be, ‘install an SSD.’

An SSD is a Solid State Drive, and it replaces your HDD (Hard Disk Drive). It is basically a giant flash drive, with no moving parts or spinning disks and and pull information from itself almost instantly.

It is hard to beat Wikipedia for definitions so here you go :

Solid State Drive :

Hard Disk Drive :

The main benefits from such an upgrade are :

1. Massive improvement is booting times.

2. Massive improvement in program launch times.

3. Massive improvement in data access times.

4. So basically everything runs quickly.

I decided to take this upgrade on, and it is one that you can easily do yourself in about twenty minutes!

Here is a quick guide to get you on your way to a massive speed improvement of your machine. At the end I have added a video that shows my machine booting prior to the upgrade with the standard 750GB HDD installed, then booting up with the new 256Gb SSD installed.

Good luck and take your time, there’s no rush, and no reason to be troubled by this upgrade.

1. Make sure you have everything : You will need your new SSD, an external case for your old HDD (as well as aiding in data transfer if you decide to go down that route), a set of precision screw drivers.

FAKE LifeProof by Fre Case – A Guide to Spotting Nasty Fakes!

So after a thorough hunt on eBay I found a high feedback rated user, located in the UK (so local to me) who was selling ‘Genuine’ LifeProof Cases for the iPhone 5.

The case was at a price lower than RRP, but not by a huge amount. It certainly wasn’t one of these £9.99 ‘LifeProof’ cases that you see all over sites such as eBay, Gumtree, and now unfortunately, more frequently also Amazon.

The order was placed and delivery was next day, all in all so far great service from this ‘highly rated’ eBay seller. That is were the good news stops! Upon opening the box it was evident that I was NOT the proud owner of a genuine LifeProof Fre iPhone 5 Case. I was now the owner of a cheap and nasty fake. The only other option was that the genuine Fre LifeProof cases were in fact a very inferior product.

That is not the case! It is the fakes that are inferior!

Everything about them from the box, quality and decals, right through to the overall feel and fit of the case just screams nasty.

Here is a quick guide of what to look for, so that pretty much instantly you should be aware of a real v fake Fre LifeProof Case:

Windows Phone 8 – Getting Started Tips & Tricks.

I have just got myself a new Nokia Lumia 620, running Windows Phone 8. My initial impressions are this is a quality phone and is running a quality operating system.

Now I am an Apple fan, but I have to say the WP8 OS is exceptionally nice.

When I have used it a little more I will post up more detailed thoughts, however in the mean time I have found this as an excellent starting point;
