2018 Enniskillen 100 : Results (30/06/2018)

2018 Enniskillen 100

After a 66 year absence road racing returned this weekend to Enniskillen, in the form of the relaunched and revitalised Enniskillen 100.  Further to that it is extremely pleasing to be able to report that everything about the event was positive.

No red flags, no injuries, a full and comprehensive race scehule (along with a packed Practice and Qualifying Session on 29/06/2018).

Couple all the above with a record equalling 5 race wins in a day for Derek McGee (and it could have been six, as he had entered six races but due to the five races in a day rule had to withdraw from one.)

The result was an epic days racing, and don’t forget the weather – we can do nothing about it but when it is with us it hard to beat.  At 29.4 degrees Celsius it was an absolute scorcher with wall to wall sunshine from well before the race started until it set for the evening.

Hopefully next year the meeting will have Championship status and will tempt in an even larger field of competitors.  Which is only a good thing for the greatest sport on the planet!

Seiko Black Series SRPC49J1 Unboxing – The ‘Ninja Turtle’

The Seiko Black Series
The Seiko Black Series

Seiko recently announced three new limited edition “Black Series” Prospex dive watches, which were released in the first quarter of 2018.

These three Prospex watches take existing vintage designs and redo them in a modern and popular black scheme – a design idea that is unlikely to fail.

Aggressive, legible, and handsome, the black dials, tan hour markers, and white & orange hands (done in Seiko’s Lumibrite) keep from messing up the original aesthetic of the pieces.

Seiko state that the Black Series watches are inspired by night diving and are designed to achieve maximum legibility.

With a reported (but unnumbered) sole batch of 300, these limited editions are sure to be much sought after by any Seiko collector.  Some have reported a mere 30 items were initially made available to the UK – that however I can not confirm.

2018 Isle of Man TT Practice Session 29/05/2018 :

Another glorious day on the Isle of Man.  So it was off to the course to have a few runs round the Mountain Road before heading to a new vantage point to watch the evening’s qualifying / practice sessions.

The first thing I noticed was the iconic house that I knew as the ‘PokerStars House’ was now the ‘Honda House.’

Missing getting over the mountain in 2016 I watched the session from this park – it is a good viewing area if you ever visit.

If you look towards the house you will see lots of bikes parked up.  That’s because the Mountain section was closed due to a collision, unfortunately this year this was an all too common occurrence.

Now there is a secret to being on the Isle of f Man in such weather, you simply start off by going to Conor Cummings Coffee Shop called Conrods, located in Ramsey.

10/06/2018 – Statement Issued by William Dunlop

10/06/2018 – Statement Issued by William Dunlop :

William Dunlop at the 2018 Isle of Man TT Races
William Dunlop at the 2018 Isle of Man TT Races

“I just thought I would put a few words down about my recent withdrawal from 2018 TT races as I have a lot of good people around me and I felt this is something that needed addressed.

First and foremost, I would like to thank all my sponsors, not one of them made me feel like I had to do anything I didn’t want to nor did they ask my issues – it’s good to have people helping me like this and it’s much appreciated.

Also a big thanks to everyone for their kind messages, I really can’t believe the support people have given me.

It has been a difficult few weeks but things have made a turn for the better for myself and Janine, we are expecting a second baby but unfortunately, we received terrible news at our 20 week scan and were referred to a specialist. While I was on the island Janine had to deal with everything herself and was attending the hospital appointments and scans herself while I was away.

My head wasn’t in the races and my thoughts were always at what was happening at home. My family will always come first so I made the decision to come home.

We received positive news this weekend and everything is now appearing to be normal so after months of uncertainty we now finally feel that we can enjoy this time and get excited for a new addition.

There are still additional scans and meetings with consultants to attend but things are looking so much better for us as a family.

I have a few weeks to rest my body and recover from NW200 crash and also think about my future, I will sit with my sponsors in time and see where we all stand.

Thanks again,

William.”

It’s great to see things are looking more positive for William moving forward and I look forward to seeing him back tearing up the roads soon, however, at the same time I fully respect whatever decision he comes to and family must always come first.

Good luck William!
