This weekend saw the road racing schedule return to the Republic of Ireland for the Faugheen 50 Road Races.
As you will see from the results below Derek McGee remains the man to beat with 14 wins, from his last 14 entries. Impressive! This weekend’s stats are simply 5 entries – 5 wins!

The 2018 Walderstown Road Races were held on 14th – 15th July.
The races, thankfully, passed off without major incident and Derek McGee surged to 4 victories including the feature superbike race.
Read on for the full results of what I believe to have been the first proper wet session of the Irish calendar – I remember Cookstown getting the odd shower but after Ireland being being baked in a recent heatwave it had to break and Walderstown was the first session where wet tyres were the only option – all day!
The 2018 Isle of Man Southern 100 ran from Monday 9th July 2018 – Thursday 12 July 2018.

The Southern 100 MCRC, organisers of the Southern 100 International Road Races, regret to announce that following an incident involving four-competitors at Stadium Bends during the 600cc Challenge race, Driffield rider, James Cowton succumbed to his injuries.
The other riders involved, Ivan Lintin is in a criticalcondition, whilst Jamie Coward has shoulder injuries and Mickey Evans leg and arm injuries. Southern 100 Racing extends it sincere condolences to family, relatives and friends of James Cowton at this very sad time.
The organisers are carrying out a full investigation in conjunction with Isle of Man Constabulary into the circumstances of the incident on behalf of the Coroner of Inquests.

A truly sad post to have to add to this website, one that has taken me a couple of days to actually even post up.
I mean no disrespect to any of the ‘statements’ I have posted before. Every rider at every event has my absolute respect. Every rider puts their life on line, every race, and I tilt my cap to every one of them. I hate posting ‘statements’ on this site because behind each one is a family devastated, friends gone, team mates gone, heroes gone.
And the latter on this occasion is one such hero of mine. I am sure we all have our favourites, there’s nothing wrong with that. Every rider and racer has our respect – without doubt or compromise, some though become our favourites, our heroes. William was one such rider for me.
True skill, true humility, true humanity, a pleasure to watch and I feel privileged for having had the opportunity to watch him race for so many years.
Unfortunately Saturday 7th July 2018 was the last time William would grace the roads.
William Dunlop – thank you for everything. Thank you. Your legacy will live on, a small consolation I know, rest easy in the knowledge that you will be missed.
I personally would like to pass on my most sincere condolences to your family, partner, friends, team mates and also to everyone from the road racing community who are now at such a loss. You are a loss, you will be missed. Ride free.

After a 66 year absence road racing returned this weekend to Enniskillen, in the form of the relaunched and revitalised Enniskillen 100. Further to that it is extremely pleasing to be able to report that everything about the event was positive.
No red flags, no injuries, a full and comprehensive race scehule (along with a packed Practice and Qualifying Session on 29/06/2018).
Couple all the above with a record equalling 5 race wins in a day for Derek McGee (and it could have been six, as he had entered six races but due to the five races in a day rule had to withdraw from one.)
The result was an epic days racing, and don’t forget the weather – we can do nothing about it but when it is with us it hard to beat. At 29.4 degrees Celsius it was an absolute scorcher with wall to wall sunshine from well before the race started until it set for the evening.
Hopefully next year the meeting will have Championship status and will tempt in an even larger field of competitors. Which is only a good thing for the greatest sport on the planet!
