2013 : Apple Rumours Already?

20130102-222432.jpg

Today is only the first day back to work for the majority of the world after the Christmas break.

Even so, having been doing a little bit of light browsing on the net the rumour mill is already going mental with predictions of what Apple will be throwing out to us this year.

To save you the trouble of checking out all these rumours at such an early stage here is the summary.

Lets see how many of them turn true over the next 12 months.

1. iPad Mini with retina display (99% likely).
2. iPhone 5s (40% likely).
3. iPhone 6 (59% likely).
4. Coloured next gen iPhones (65% likely).
5. iOS7 (99% likely).
6. iPad 5 (99% likely).
7. Some AppleTV upgrade. Most likely a huge upgrade.
8. A6 processor. (99% likely. Also 99% likely that Samsung won’t be making it).
9. Different iPhone screen sizes. (10% likely).

Hopefully this little list will quench your thirst for rumours. I’m interested in watching how they develop.

HOW TO : Moving iPhone / iPad / iPod Backups to an external drive

If Santa has just brought you a nice new shiny SSD or you are running out of space on your HDD / SSD and are disgusted by how much space is actually used on backups of your iDevices you need this guide, it could save you gigs of space and is pretty easy to sort out!

The simple fact is we all need backups, but why not put them someone you want it to be instead of cluttering up vital space.

iPhone ‘5s’ getting ready for an early launch?

iPhone 5s on route?
iPhone 5s on route?

The internet rumour mill is now rife with chatter that the ‘iPhone 5s’ is getting ready for release!  The iPhone 5 is still like gold dust in many stores, so is it likely that an 5s will be in development and ready for testing so soon?

After the ‘new iPad’, and then the ‘iPad with Retina Display’ I think it is more than possible in fact I’d go as far as saying likely!

This extract pulled from the web pretty much says it all…

Apple iPad Mini…Has arrived.

Today is the day Apple bring out their small tablet onto the market, and I want one!

But do I?

This is the problem you see, I have a ‘New iPad’ which is also getting binned today for an ‘iPad with Retina Display’ (which mine has anyway) but hoo ha, can I justify an iPad mini.

Yes it would be nice to have, but with the Nexus 7 on the market, currently at £199 for a 32Gb model, and a Blackberry Playbook 64Gb sitting at £129 it is a big decision for what will ultimately be a pocket browser, but then surely my iPhone 5 handles that?

The market is flooded and tech heads like me are funding it!

Time to go and do some research, in Apples favour all my apps will work and it will just slide on nicely with everything else, in Nexus favour I want to give android a go and in Blackberry’s favour I could buy 2 and have 8 (EIGHT!!) times the amount of storage!

Google Chrome & Google Drive Released for iOS

Today is a great day for all things Google and at the same time all things Apple! Why so? Because Google Chrome is released today in the App Store for all iOS devices.

This has been met with much cheer across the Apple circuit, mainly because people have become discontented with Safari and it’s limitations. Customers, fanboys, lovers and haters have all been crying out for an alternative, and the alternative they have been screaming for has arrived.

I don’t think there is too much need for me to go into massive details about this app, it is easily downloaded, free and small so you have no excuse for not giving it a go, so get yourself over to the AppStore and get downloading.

A few points I will make though after my limited trial of it this morning.

April 2012 Review : G-Form Extreme Sleeve for iPad (and others up to 10″)

OK so first off it should be noted that I am a little bit OCD when it comes to keeping my gadgets and tech in pristine condition.  I mean after all I paid big money to have them, money that I had to work damn hard to get, and as such I want to keep my stuff looking nice and shiny.

Now I know that some people say that you shouldn’t obsess about keeping things immaculate, I have to say I don’t, I just try and buy a few things that will keep my tech new and shiny without me having to worry about them at all. Means more money back on the re-sale for the upgrade too!

So my iPad (3) then, it cost me £659.  For a little further investment I can keep it clean, scuff and scratch free and protected anywhere I go, without having to worry about it.

My iPad (3) for example has a Zagg Full body invisible shield on it, an Apple Smart Coverand a Belkin rear shield.  As far as scuffs and marks go it is pretty protected, all I needed was something to keep it safe in my bag.

Then I went to the Gadget Show Live 2012 at the Birmingham NEC, and whilst wondering around I saw a yellow iPad case.  Now yellow is my colour so I was instantly intrigued.  Then came the claims of this yellow iPad case being the home to an iPad that was dropped from 100,000 ft and survived.

Apple AppStore – Unale to Purchase Error – FIX – For iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

Have you get the “Unable to Purchase” error on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch when you try to update, or purchase apps from the AppStore?   The error looks like this : Although maybe not as bad, as I have 56 Errors!

Unable to Purchase Error

The name of the app and the number of “other items” will of course be different from person to person, and over time the number of “other items” will also increase.

New Apple iPad (3rd Generation) Unboxing and Zagg InvisibleShield installation

I know it now a week later since the new Apple iPad got released in the UK (amongst others) but I didn’t have the time to get my little post up on release day so I thought today would be a good enough day as it is 23rd MArch 20212, and for those of us not in the first wave of releases, it is release day for the new iPad. Today the new iPad gets released in a further 23 countries so here is my experiences with the unboxing. Also works quite well as on release day I was not in possession of my Zagg invisibleShield. It actually arrived on 17/03/2012 and I got it on on the 18/03/2012. This is despite it being advertised by Expansys eBay store as being in the UK and getting dispatched 1st Class, it actually came from France, so took longer than I was prepared to wait, had I have known this another UK based seller would have got my business! Anyway thats another story.

This story begins at 05:00 hours on 16th March 2012 when I pulled myself out of bed, and drove to the nearest McDonald’s, got myself an awesome double sausage and egg McMuffin along with a hash brown and some brown nectar in the form of Coca Cola, brilliant!

Feeling a little fresher off I trundled to the Apple Store, Victoria Square Belfast, arriving at the shopping centre at about 05:40 hours I was worried that the queue would be horrific (from last year’s iPad 2 release) but to my surprise there was only around 100 people ahead of me. By the time the store opened there would have been 200 – 300 people in the queue so I was happy enough with the timing.

In and went and out I came £658 lighter in the pocket, having picked up a iPad 64Gb wifi along with AppleTV (see previous post) and home I went, where I waited on the postman, with the iPad still in its little box, still untouched by a human hand, and there it would remain until 18th March 2012! Gutted, and all no thanks to Expansys! Not impressed!
