As a huge fan of Transformers when the trailer dropped for an origin movie for Bumblebee it would be fair to say I was excited.
The movie was released and off I zipped to the cinema.
Movie Synopsis :
“On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.”
I don’t like to read too much about movies before I see them, but one preview I did read stated this :
With the arrival of iOS12 just mere hours away and the first deliveries of the iPhone Xs series less than a week away you could well be one of the lucky ones upgrading to the latest iDevice.
If, like me, you may not be planning to upgrade on this cycle – you may well like the idea of a facelift for your current phone and no better way to do that than the latest wallpaper.
Apple are renowned for their gorgeous wallpapers and this refresh is no different. The wallpapers for the new iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max are beautiful. There is some dispute as to what the wallpapers actually depict, some claim they represent planetary surfaces, others that they are bubbles – the patterns coming from an oil type effect on the surface of said bubbles. The latter being the theory that I am going for.
But it doesn’t stop there. Of course the latest flagship iPhone is causing a lot of buzz on the tech front but what seems to be causing even more at the moment is the newly announced iPhone XR – the more modestly priced, LCD screened, single camera’d, and multi coloured iPhone XR. With it comes a whole range of wallpapers each designed around the base colour of an iPhone XR. These follow the same bubble theme and come with a single or double bubble variant.

The iPhone X has only just been announced, preorders have not even started and the phone won’t be in the public domain until 3rd November 2017.
However the scammers and scalpers eBay resellers are already out in full force on eBay.
The iPhone X is already being listed on eBay at hugely inflated prices and the concerning thing is people are bidding on them!
Not only that scalpers resellers are selling multiples. How? They are going to queue up with their scalper friends and scalper family and hope for the best. They do not have early access. They are not special customers. They are scalpers. Pure and simple.
The problem the scalpers face at the moment is they can not guarantee postage within 30 days. That may change come 4th October 2017 as they will then be in the 30 day range.
It is questionable how they will be able to guarantee one though? I doubt Apple are selling their stock off to eBay scum sellers resellers.
At the moment retro could not be more current. The Mini NES bringing back retro gaming into the mainstream, Nokia re-release the most classic and iconic handset of all time – the Nokia 3310 – RetroPi bringing pretty much every game ever released for all the classic systems right into your living room!
Retro is so cool and everyone agrees, well everyone agrees until you use it. Forget gaming, because retro gaming is awesome, but what about the rest of it? The truth is – retro tech suffers, because technology moves on, when we go back to old tech we instantly think – “Wow, how did we cope with this? It is so slow!”
Go back to the start of the mobile web, remember it? Chances are you could be reading this post on a mobile device and thanks to 4G, and responsive web themes you can get the full enjoyment and all the information from this site and pretty much every other site on the internet on any device from one in the palm of your hand to another on a full 5K 27 inch screen!

Truth is it was great, but technology has moved on so much that those devices we hold so highly would now be unusable, if not unusable at least so frustratingly slow that we wouldn’t want to use them. Out 2G original iPhone wouldn’t even be able to load this web site at any sort of useful speed, whereas with 4G it loads like lightning in glorious technicolor. But our original iPhone was so cool and retro is cool. So here you go, here is the idea :

The cool as hell retro backgrounds from the original iPhone, wrapped in the shell of an up to date and completely usable device. Let’s be honest that’s what we want anyway, the retro chic with the functioning of the latest tech.
Now get back to your Mini NES and guide that little heroic plumber to save his bride. Oh and talking of which, when the Mini SNES is announced, get it preordered – it’s going to be in high demand. That’s my prediction for this Christmas anyway!

In case you aren’t aware or haven’t checked Instagram have just released an update that allows you to easily log in and switch between multiple accounts.
And the best part about it is that it works and works well.
Just go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Add Account’ from there you just click on the account you are looking to post too and away you go.

If you live in the UK, are an Apple user and have updated your gear to iOS9 you have probably been left wondering where on Earth is this news app I heard all about?
Apple released it to the US in iOS9 but to ensure it worked, allegedly, the rest of the world had to wait. (Workarounds did exist such as changing your phone’s region).
Well now the wait is officially over. Download and install iOS9.1 and you will be greater by that nice new shiny News app sitting right there on your homescreen!
If you use iOS9 and iCloud, it is really easy to have the icon for your iCloud Drive pop up on your home screen, just follow these simple steps and enjoy some easy App convenience.
Open Settings on your iPhone.
In Settings select iCloud.

This single text message is crashing people’s iPhones.
A new bug is a massive pain in the iMessage
Apple’s iMessage platform has been subject of a new bug that shuts down your entire iPhone after receiving the message “effective. Power لُلُصّبُلُلصّبُررً ॣ ॣh ॣ ॣ 冗”.
The second half is Arabic and if you’re not currently in the iMessage with a person it’ll send your phone into a reboot no matter what it’s doing – it’s proved very frustrating for some users and it’s not certain what the long term effects are.
Here’s the fix: head into your Settings app, then the Notifications tab, Messages and then switch off the slider called “show on local screen and under “alert style when unlocked” choose “none”.
It’s a pretty simple fix but it means if you’re sent any more pesky iMessages you’re not going to be sent into the reboot again.
Over and over
We contacted Apple for some comment on the matter and the response suggested Apple can’t see the problem on their end, but that’s apparently not the case for many people who have taken to the internet to confirm the bug,. Hundreds of forum users are reporting the issue. JoeyTheBoey on Reddit said, “I have an un jailbroken iPhone 6 and it resprings my phone, but only if I’m not in the messages app, then it will show the message notification badge when I get back in.”
Jjc123cj on Reddit said, “Don’t test this on your iPhone 6! I sent it to myself and now my messaging app crashes when I try to open it ):”
Apple News on Twitter has spoken to Apple’s Senior Engineers who admitted they know there is a problem. and are hard at work trying to fix it.
I was just going through some old folders and found a few unboxing of products that I didn’t get publishing. Time moved on, my tech moved on and these products got forgot about.
However some of these products do need a little bit of showcasing. The first one I will upload is a tough case for the iPhone 5. It is the Tech21 Special Ops Combat case. Tech21 do a full range of cases from the reasonably subtle right up to this one.
This case utilises 3DO – a great product that takes the bang out of impacts and in doing so should protect your gear fantastically well. Of course this case is big and bulky, but it is protective. It has a built in screen shield so if you already have a screen guard installed it may well cause water marking. That is the only issue I experienced with this case, but I would class it as a direct competitor to the Otterbox Defender and Griffin Survivor Range and if you keep your eyes out you can pick this case up now at a fraction of its original £49.99 retail price!
I was hugely impressed by this case, so much so that this was the final case I put my iPhone 5 in before upgrading and it remained in it for a couple of months.
As you will know from my previous posts on cases and protection fro my phones I am generally speaking a fan and user of tough cases, the OtterBox Defender, OtterBox Preserver and Griffin Survivor would normally factor in my top 5 cases. Although one lazy Sunday morning a Facebook advertisement for an ‘Amzer Crusta’ case appeared on my news feed. It was being marketed as a tough case with a build in tempered glass cover (front and rear) thus maintaining the feeling and a lot of the looks of a ‘naked’ iPhone. The obvious exception being the large bumper round it!
I was intrigued enough to look closer and although Amzer as a brand didn’t appear to be overly familiar in the UK it did seem to have a good customer base in the USA, which seemed to be fairly positive. So I ordered one.
