Replica Watches…Any use?

So we all get them, the emails from China offering brand name watches at ridiculously low prices.  They even tell you know that these are replicas and made to ‘look like famous watches.’

www.discoverybuying.com is one such site that is flooded with replica watches from makes such as Breitling, Rolex, Tissot, Tag…..

The thing is these are counterfeit, replica sounds much more innocent than counterfeit, but that’s exactly what they are.

Do they though damage the brand name?  To be honest I don’t think so. Anyone with the cash and eye for a good genuine watch will not be buying one of these, they will be spending the cash and getting the real thing.

The thing that had got me for a long time though was one question, ‘What are these fakes actually like?’  I bit the bullet and paid out the big $$$ to find out.  I ordered a Tissot 8007 with the heft price tag of $7.99 delivered!  That is so cheap it is hard to believe.  The postage alone would almost cost that.

The Tissot 8007 doesn’t actually exist, but the Tissot PRC200 does, and it is clearly this model that the replica is based on.

iPhone ‘5s’ getting ready for an early launch?

iPhone 5s on route?
iPhone 5s on route?

The internet rumour mill is now rife with chatter that the ‘iPhone 5s’ is getting ready for release!  The iPhone 5 is still like gold dust in many stores, so is it likely that an 5s will be in development and ready for testing so soon?

After the ‘new iPad’, and then the ‘iPad with Retina Display’ I think it is more than possible in fact I’d go as far as saying likely!

This extract pulled from the web pretty much says it all…

Yamaha FZ6 (2006 Fazer) Rear Rack Fitting

I picked myself up a rear rack for the bike this week, basically so I can stick a top box on it, in turn enabling me to throw a helmet or two in there if and when I park up, or pack stuff to take with me, such as a picnic!

The first thing I realised was it isn’t as easy as just getting a box, a rear frame needed purchased. Now to make things even more complicated, the type of frame you buy determines the type of box you can use, and who makes it. So if you want a GIVI then you need a frame that takes a givi box. Although GIVI make two different boxes, ‘Monolock’ and ‘Monokey.’ One Givi frame will take either, one is specific. See how it starts to get complicated!

Griffin Survivor – iPhone 5 – Unboxing and Initial thoughts and reviews!

Anyone who knows about my opinions on cases will know that I am a huge fan of the Griffin Survivor series of cases. It is pretty much what my iPhone 4s lived in, and now it is what my iPhone 5 has started its life off in.

These cases are hardcore. They are big and bulky, but when you are aiming for extreme protection they are the dogs dangles!

They are tested against drops, water (not waterproof unfortunately), sand and dust, and has received US military approval.

I tend to double up on the protection as well, as I also have the phone covered in a matt screen guard and rear protector too. If using an additional screen guard with the Survivor or any other type of case with its own built in screen guard you need to use matt. Anything else will case water marking between the two.

If you think this is a bit excessive you are probably most certainly correct, I just dont like the thought of a little piece of dust getting in there and scratched away at the phone unchecked for a long period of time, so easch to their own eh?

As far as the case goes there are a few notable changes from that of the iPhone 4 / 4s :

21st September 2012 – iPhone 5 Launch Day – Unboxing and Quick Thoughts!

Any Apple Launch Day now is a big one, and this one was the biggest so far.  Queues have been reported as 83% bigger for this release of the iPhone 5 than they were for last years iPhone 4s’ event.

I have to agree with this, as I opted to sleep in a little as last year wasn’t really that much of an issue, so when I arrived at the queue this morning at a little after 05.30 am at the Apple Store, Victoria Square, Belfast I was horrified and also a little impressed to see no less than 300 people already in the queue!

At shortly after 11am I left the store with a little bag containing a white 32Gb iPhone 5 – Sweet!

And that is exactly what it is – SWEET!

Casio SGW-300H-1AVER Unboxing

G-Shocks are my thing, they are indestructible, well almost, and I like things like that, just look at my choices of phone cases, iPad covers and so on, however I seen this little Casio (non G) on a forum, brand new as an unwanted gift, and at a great price, pretty much half the RRP. It was too good to let go, especially as it had the Altimeter / Barometer/ Thermometer sensor as featured on the G-Shock I currently have my eye on. I saw this as a good opportunity to evaluate this feature at a fraction of the price. If it is good, G-Shock gets bought, if not at least I know and my eye can wander at another!

The first thing I noticed is how so different this watch feels from my G’s. It feels light and flimsy, the strap feels as if it may actually break, it has a big face (50mm) but it feels light. The clasp looks small, the buckle is small and looks weak. Then I realised it’s not going to break, it is not delicate, it is just not a G. This is what normal watches feel like. I’m jsut used to wearing a tank commanders watch on my arm.

iFace 2 iPhone Case – Thoughts and Photos…

As quickly as you have read and learn about the iFace cover for the iPhone, here now is the iFace 2. This allegedly has been produced to eradicate the problems of the iFace cover which unfortunately plagued the original case ( )

You will quickly see from the photos below that a lot has changed, the sleek contoured curves are gone, the little Apple logo is gone, and it has now went from being sexy hour glass shaped to a bit of a fat boy! The nice right colours are still present and the big fix is meant to be the camera doesn’t wash out when the flash is used, well guess what mine does, now depending on what case I choose I can have a yellow or red wash out.

iFace iPhone 4 / 4s Case : Thoughts and Photos…

The iFace cases are currently found all over eBay and YouTube at the moment, they are hugely popular and also due to this popularity they range massively in price. Expect to pay around £5GBP to have one delivered in the UK, NOT the £20 – £30 some eBay sellers seem to have them for sale at!

I’m not going to write too much about this case or its predecessor, the iFace 2 case, coming next, as it is simply a bright, cheap and cheerful case.

It is surprisingly well made, and with little details like the cut out Apple logo on the bottom all adding to the overall quality of the case.

When it is on it actually looks really nice, and due to the contoured shape of it, it is a pleasure to hold. As far as protection goes I’d be off the opinion that in an emergency it will help in the event of a small knock, however it is certainly not an impact case.
